1. Stéphanie Sokolinski, in Bordeaux, France), is a half-French / half-Polish singer & actress (called SoKo as far back as she can remember). She has appeared in several French films & got a start as a singer, after she asked a director to sing, on screen.
In 2007 and 2008 "I'll kill her" became a hit song in a number of countries, including Denmark, Austria, Belgium and Australia. At that time SoKo wasn’t signed by a (major) record label. She says; “I don’t want to sign now because I think it’s really rushed.” At several festivals she mentioned an album might be released in autumn 2008. While many believed SoKo to have stopped playing music, in January of 2010 she once again started playing live shows, and writing new material.
January 2011 : She's currently living in Los Angeles, and has just started a new band (or at least a new muscial collaboration)"MachiNette" with Stella Mozgawa from the band Warpaint.
2. Soko was a Yugoslav rock band featuring Bosnian trombonist Slobodan Sokolović. Their best known album, Lejla, was released in 1987.

I Thought I Was an Alien
SoKo Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Where I thought
I was an alien
I told you
To get a costume
And dance with me
Like an alien
You were not
Quite a good dancer
I told you that
I think it doesn't matter
We would just look
Dumber than we think we were
Then you look at me
As if I was a freak
But you said you like
Freaky people
So I thought you might
Like me a little bit
We met one day
Where I thought I was an alien
I told you to get a costume
And dance with me
Like an alien
And you did
And you did
The lyrics to SoKo's song "I Thought I Was an Alien" tell the story of the singer's feelings of alienation and isolation, and her encounter with someone who she feels might be able to relate to her. The song is based around a scene where the singer meets someone who she thinks might be able to understand her, and suggests that they dress up as aliens and dance together. She is nervous about their reaction, but when they agree and dance together, she feels a sense of connection.
Throughout the lyrics, there is a sense of vulnerability and insecurity, as the singer expresses her fear of being seen as a freak or outsider. However, there is also a sense of hope and possibility, as she reaches out to the other person and finds a way to connect with them. The lyrics suggest that despite our differences and the sense of alienation that we may feel at times, we can still find ways to connect and relate to one another.
The song has resonated with many listeners, who have found comfort in its message of finding connection in unexpected places. The lyrics are open to interpretation, and can be seen as a tribute to the power of human connection, as well as a celebration of the unique qualities that make us all individuals.

I love the song and the video! Soko sings very naturally as if she were improvising. The song looks like a 70s song like all from the album. It is so tender! Soko and the alien transmit real love ignoring social conventions.

I feel like she's using Alien as a metaphor. The guy she met has made her feel so beautiful and different. She's happy and content with what she has.
