So Below Lyrics

These voices in my head
For every thought that lead me here
All the reasons disappear
The light begins to change
I turn my mind away
This is not where i should be
This is this is caught up with me
This low i know won't let me breath
Ill stay ill stay down here with you
If you'll let me through
How long these nights become
Oh how I've missed the sun
I think of those I've left behind
For the senses I'm yet to find
The opening lines of So Below's "Far" address the singer's struggles with the inner turmoil that plagues them internally. They wake up in a mess and are plagued by voices in their head, which they describe as the reasons disappearing for every thought that led them to this present state. The first verse establishes a sense of confusion, desperation, and disorientation that is only heightened by the following lines. The change in the light's quality seems to represent a shift in perspective, acknowledgment of the negative patterns in her thinking, and a feeling of uncertainty. Turning her mind 'away' is representative of a kind of avoidance strategy, given that she is unsure where else to go.
In the chorus, she acknowledges that she is aware that something in her life has gotten caught up with her, but she feels like she cannot breathe. The imagery of darkness and shadow that have been hanging over her are an indication that she is face-to-face with something that is emotionally heavy. She then states that she would be willing to stay where she is, down here in this darkness as long as she can be with someone else who would stay with her as well. The power of the song is really generated by the refrain, "If you'll let me through," which repeats the desperation with which she is searching for a way out of her current state, but she is unsure whether anyone else can help her get there.
The second verse of the song speaks to the theme of loneliness, which is something that underlies the entire track. The singer acknowledges that 'how long these nights have become' and that she misses the sun. She thinks about those she has left behind and the sensory experiences she has yet to come across. The chorus follows the second verse again, hence emphasizing the singer's desperation to find someone that can keep her company through her struggles with mental health.

I've been bumping So Below for a few months now after I recently discovered it; so how is it that I am JUST now hearing this song? It's absolutely fantastic! I swear she's incapable of putting out even mediocre music. Being able to weave emotions lyrically that we've collectively experienced in such a relatable yet eloquent way, all the while flirting with a style of genre that is so captivating in originality and beauty is beyond art; its pure feeling.
