Hide and Seek
Somebody's Image Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Peeping 'round the corner of a little house
Can you hear me
Gotta be as quite as a little mouse
Can you hear me

One two three
Four five six
Count to ten
Ready or not

How I love to play my hide and seek
How I love to play my hide and seek

Run into the garden of a willow tree
Can you hear me
Hiding in the highest branch that I can see
Can you hear me

One two three
Four five six
Count to ten
Ready or not

How I love to play my hide and seek
How I love to play my hide and seek
How I love to play my hide and seek
How I love to play my hide and seek
How I love to play my hide and seek

How I love to play my hide and seek
How I love to play my hide and seek

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Somebody's Image's song "Hide and Seek" is a playful and energetic expression of joy and fun that comes from playing a traditional game of "hide and seek". The song depicts the excitement of hiding and the anticipation of being found while playing the game. The song begins with the lyrics "Peeping 'round the corner of a little house, can you hear me? Gotta be as quite as a little mouse, can you hear me?" which highlights the sneaky nature of the game and how players must remain unnoticed while hiding.

The song goes on to describe the game's rules, with the lyrics "One two three, Four five six, Count to ten, Ready or not". These lyrics speak to the basic structure of the game of "hide and seek" and how the player who is "it" must count to a certain number before beginning their search for the other players. The chorus of the song describes the singer's love for the game, stating "How I love to play my hide and seek, How I love to play my hide and seek".

The second verse continues the theme of the player searching for the others who are hiding. The lyrics "Run into the garden of a willow tree, Can you hear me? Hiding in the highest branch that I can see, Can you hear me?" describe the search for a hiding player and the excitement that comes with discovering their hiding place. The chorus is repeated several times throughout the song, emphasizing the singer's love and enjoyment of playing "hide and seek".

Good stuff ! ... I hadn't heard this song for years, and never realised that it was Russell Morris ... then heard it played on the radio today ( Magic 1278 - Melbourne ), and they announced that it was him ... Great song ... Thanks for the upload ... Wayne

Hey Wayne, check out Baby Blue (It's All Over Now) also by Somebody's Image. It's the Bob Dylan song. I can remember the band playing around Melbourne venues back in the 60s.

@Brian Reilly Just checked it out, Brian .. It's not bad, and Russell sings it well .. But I found that riff which starts the song and appears throughout it to be a bit of a distraction .. That's because it's the same riff that was made famous in "It's The Same Old Song" by The Four Tops, and I kept thinking of that song .. My favourite version of this song is still the one by Graham Bonnet .. Cheers, Wayne
