Jungle
Somebody's child Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I′ll be runnin'
I can feel that you just won′t let go
I'll be fightin'
I′ll be holding on to what we′ve lost
I can't feel the love that I′ve known
I guess it's hard to cope that we are getting old
Maybe we just need to start again
When you′re on in the rumble
Live the life that we want to, yeah, uh
Settle down in the jungle
If the world's out to get you
′Cause I know
And I know

Can you see the way?
Do you feel it too?
All your life just waiting 'til you found the truth
So why don't you turn the leaf
′Cause all the lies
Come from promises
That we overlooked
We′re begging them to change so they won't feel like us
So why don′t you take my hand

When you're on in the rumble
Live the life that we want to, yeah, uh
Settle down in the jungle
If the world′s out to get you
And I know
And I know

I'll be runnin′, I'll be runnin'
I′ll be runnin′, I'll be runnin′, I'll be runnin′
I'll be runnin′, I'll be runnin', I′ll be runnin′
I'll be runnin′, I'll be runnin′, I'll be runnin′

When you're on in the rumble
Live the life that we want to, yeah, uh
Settle down in the jungle
If the world's out to get you, yeah, uh
When you′re on in the rumble
Settle down in the jungle, uh
′Cause I know I'll be feeling now
And I know I′ll be feeling now
And I know I'll be feeling now

′Cause I know
Oh I know

Overall Meaning

The song "Jungle" by Somebody's Child talks about the struggles of a failing relationship and the need to start over. The opening lines, “I’ll be running, I can feel that you just won’t let go” and “I’ll be fighting, I’ll be holding on to what we’ve lost,” indicate that the relationship is already falling apart and that one person is holding on more tightly than the other. The chorus talks about settling down in the jungle, away from the noise of the outside world, and living the life they truly want. The line, “Can you see the way? Do you feel it too?” suggests that the singer is asking their partner if they also feel the urge to start over and leave their current situation behind.

The song’s overall message is one of hope and renewal. The repeated phrase “I’ll be running” suggests a search for something new, for a fresh start. The “jungle” could be seen as a metaphor for a place where they can start over completely, and the line “Settle down in the jungle” indicates a desire to find a peaceful place away from the stresses and strains of modern life. The song ends with the lines “And I know, I’ll be feeling now / ‘Cause I know, oh I know” which again suggests a newfound sense of purpose and direction.

Cant even remember how I find this band, but was listening to a few of their songs which were good, then I heard this and it has blown me away! Can't believe this isn't been played everywhere, a masterpiece, the riffs, the backing, the raspy vocals. Unreal
