Room Full Of Roses
Sons Of The Pioneers Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

If I sent a rose to you
For ev'ry time you made me blue
You'd have a room full, room full of roses
If I sent a rose of white
For ev'ry time I cried all night
You'd have a room full of roses.

And if you took the petals
And tore them all apart
You'd be tearing at the roses
Just the way you tore my heart.

If someday you're feeling blue
And you could send some roses, too

Well, I don't want a room full of roses
I just want my arms full of you...

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Sons of the Pioneers's song 'Room Full Of Roses' describes the deep emotion of someone trying to express the intensity of their feelings through the imagery of roses. In the first verse, the singer is trying to convey how many times they have felt hurt, and 'blue' because of the subject. The roses would accumulate in a room if they were to send one for each time they were left feeling hurt or wronged. The second verse makes an allusion to the color white, which typically conveys innocence, purity, and new beginnings. Here, the singer wishes to give the subject a white rose for each time they cried all night.

The third and fourth verses switch to a more accusatory and resentful tone, where the singer talks about how the subject has hurt them as well. The lines "And if you took the petals / And tore them all apart" imply how vandalizing the roses for nothing. It then comes to light how the subject has supposedly broken the singer's heart just like they have torn the roses apart. The song ends with a hopeful verse, where the singer express to the subject that they do not need a room full of roses from them; rather, they want to hold them in their arms.

Overall, the lyrics of the song Room Full Of Roses tell a story of love and heartbreak, of forgiveness and redemption, and of finding solace in each other's arms.

For him to have played Festus so very convincingly, what an actor!

Ken Curtis ended up living his last years here in Clovis, CA. We have a statue of him in the center of town honoring him. 🙏

@TheSharron

I just had to look it up...they did a real good job of capturing his spirit.

@@TheSharron Hi. I didn't know he lived her till after he died. Maybe it wouldn't have made a difference as it's easy to say I'd do something when I cannot NOW, but I'd sure like to have thanked him for his high standards work on gunsmoke. I never would have dreamed he could sing so beautifully. He also sang a song on a show called "have gun will travel". It was awesome. He played, as usual, a very uncouth sort of fellow and then he got all purtied (that's purr-teed) up and sang a song for a lady and just astounded me. That was actually the first time I heard him sing. So then I looked him up "ken Curtis sings" and found he was famous for singing with the sons of the pioneers many years ago. Incredible! Here is a link to him singing on have gun will travel:
