The Sons of the Pioneers did several songs for the John Ford movies Wagon Master (in 1949) and Rio Grande in (1950).
The six members who made the Sons of the Pioneers famous in the late 1930s with their close-harmonied western style music were elected into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1980. In 1995, they were inducted into the Western Performers Hall of Fame at the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
In 1977, the Smithsonian designated the Sons of the Pioneers as "national treasures". Through many changes to the line-up, the Sons of the Pioneers have continued to perform.
There's A Blue Sky Way Out Yonder

That's a roof over my head
There′s a blue sky way out yonder
That's a cover for my bed
And wherever I wonder
Or wherever I may roam
There's a blue sky way out yonder
I'm tired of roamin′ around
Mighty tired, mighty blue
Somehow, I never have found
Any place like the home I once knew
There's a blue sky way out yonder
That′s a roof over my head
There's a blue sky way out yonder
That′s a cover for my bed
And wherever I wonder
Or wherever I may roam
There's a blue sky way out yonder
That's a-callin′ me home
There's a blue sky way out yonder
There is a beautiful and vast sky in the distance
That's a roof over my head
Symbolizing protection and shelter for me
There's a blue sky way out yonder
There is a serene sky far away
That's a cover for my bed
Representing a comforting and peaceful place to rest
And wherever I wonder
No matter where I explore or travel
Or wherever I may roam
Or whichever path I may take
There's a blue sky way out yonder
There will always be a beckoning sky in the distance
That’s a-callin' me home
That calls for me to return to my true home
I'm tired of roamin' around
I am weary of constantly wandering
Mighty tired, mighty blue
Feeling exhausted and filled with sadness
Somehow, I never have found
In some way, I have never discovered
Any place like the home I once knew
A place comparable to the cherished home I used to know
And wherever I wonder
No matter where I explore or travel
Or wherever I may roam
Or whichever path I may take
There's a blue sky way out yonder
There will always be a beckoning sky in the distance
That's a roof over my head
Symbolizing protection and shelter for me
There's a blue sky way out yonder
There is a serene sky far away
That's a cover for my bed
Representing a comforting and peaceful place to rest
And wherever I wonder
No matter where I explore or travel
Or wherever I may roam
Or whichever path I may take
There's a blue sky way out yonder
There will always be a beckoning sky in the distance
That’s a-callin' me home
That calls for me to return to my true home
