After originally forming as a studio project, the band soon realised their potential as a live outfit and after recruiting a suitable drummer, began honing their sound by performing alongside the likes of Paradise Lost, Skindred, Raging Speedhorn and more recently, Senser. At the same time they promoted themselves via large cd giveaways of their 'Descend the Trend' and 'A Lifetime of Dependency' demos before recording their first full album 'There's No Profit in Truth,' soon to be released via union black Records.
Fake
Soul Destruction Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Now what is fake is reality and what is real can no longer be.
If I could fake this pain and if I could rape my faith, then I would take this pain and I would throw it away.
Words I say are never the same as the ones in my drugged up brain.
The lyrics of Soul Destruction's "Fake" delve into themes of disillusionment and confusion. The opening line "What I've seen has just made me blind" suggests that the singer has been exposed to something they cannot comprehend, and this has left them feeling lost and confused. The next line "what I've felt has made me believe" implies that the singer has had a powerful emotional experience that they have interpreted as real and true, but the contrast between these two statements highlights a sense of contradiction and uncertainty.
The chorus of the song reflects this confusion between reality and falsity. The line "what is fake is reality and what is real can no longer be" suggests that the singer is struggling to distinguish between what is genuine and what is deceptive. The desire to "fake this pain" and "rape my faith" speaks to a sense of despair and the wish to escape from the overwhelming emotions they are experiencing.
The final line "Words I say are never the same as the ones in my drugged up brain" suggests that the singer is struggling with addiction or some other mental health issue that is impacting their ability to perceive and communicate reality.
