Space and Time
Sound System Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Yeah I remember in space and time
And I remember when you were mine
All that mattered was synthesized

Yeah I remember when the future died
And now the rain clouds keep it dark
Because of why I'm so alone
Oh give me that
Let me change
I take my love
A higher place
The matter of fact
Don't matter why?
It's alright

We could be
Only this time
Reaching back
Across the line
You and me

Never asking why?
Oh why, alright

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Sound System's song "Space and Time" express a feeling of nostalgia for a past relationship that was once vibrant and significant. The opening lines "Yeah I remember in space and time, And I remember when you were mine" create a sense of sentimentality as the singer recalls being in love in a distant past. The assertion that "All that mattered was synthesized" suggests that the relationship may have been built on a superficial foundation, one that perhaps lacked depth or was heavily influenced by external factors like technology or media.

However, the tone shifts with the line "Yeah I remember when the future died," evoking a sense of loss and sadness. The ensuing lines "And now the rain clouds keep it dark, Because of why I'm so alone" create an atmosphere of isolation and despair. But despite this, the singer asserts they can change things and elevate their love to a higher place, with the lines "Oh give me that, Let me change, I take my love a higher place."

The final lines of the song "We could be only this time, Reaching back across the line, You and me never asking why?" are hopeful and suggest a desire to rekindle the past relationship, despite any barriers or challenges that may be present. The song ultimately seems to be about the push and pull between holding onto the past and the possibility of moving forward into a brighter future.

A message to future generations, don't let this futuristic nostalgic song die. It is a true masterpiece. Early YouTube is unique and awesome!

nostalgia doesnt really exist, those were better times, and when we see the rot that is today, we need to remember the times of innocence, when children were allowed to be children, when dreams of what was possible were not diminished by corporate machines. when beauty was called beauty, and ugly was called ugly. and no one had to apologize for being different.

Timmytimmy Mit

Still listening to this song after all these years.

Y'know, I kinda feel bad for 009 Sound System; their songs got a bad reputation for being "annoying", even though the only reason that happened was because they made the best royalty free music on youtube, and everyone wanted to use it.

Their music is actually, unironically great, and they definitely deserved better.

Very sad :(

they will live on in our souls, they have touched all of us, and we will never forget...
