The band, from Burlington, Ontario, consisted of Gordon Deppe (vocals and guitar), Sandy Horne (vocals and bass), Rob Preuss (keyboards and piano) and Derrick Ross (drums). Preuss also replaced Brett Wickens in 1980.
In the late eighties, Preuss went on to play with Honeymoon Suite and Ross left the band and were replaced by Scott MacDonald and Steve Kendry.
The band released five albums (and a soundtrack that was credited to Gordon Deppe but included a couple songs from the "Tell No Lies" ep).
Their most popular songs included " Romantic Traffic", "Nova Heart", "Old Emotions" and "Tell No Lies".
Gordon Deppe is currently a music programmer for one of the Galaxie Music Network (television) channels in Canada.

Sooner or Later
Spoons Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It¹s over my head
It¹s moving so slow
But sooner or later
You will remember
Sooner or later
The world will wind down
The highway keeps bending
It won¹t let me go
And my car moves so slow
But sooner or later
You will remember
Sooner or late
It¹s gonna hit ya
You can walk away
You can walk away
From many things
But these circumstances
Are not in our control
Sooner or later
The world will wind down
Sooner or later
It¹s gonna hit ya
Sooner or later
The song "Sooner or Later" by Spoons is a reflective song about the inevitable end of all things. The lyrics, "Sooner or later, you will remember" and "Sooner or later, the world will wind down," suggest that while everything may seem to be moving slowly or uncertainly, there is a sense of finality that we all must face. The mention of the highway and the car represents the journey of life- one that can be unpredictable and may seem slow at times.
The repetition of the lyrics, "Sooner or later, it's gonna hit ya," is a reminder that no matter how much we try to run away or ignore the reality of life, the end is inevitable. The line, "You can walk away from many things, but these circumstances are not in our control," emphasises that there are certain things in life that are beyond our power, and we must accept them rather than fight against them.
Overall, the lyrics of "Sooner or Later" highlight the importance of acceptance and mindfulness in our lives. It encourages us to appreciate every moment, as everything will eventually come to an end.

My absolutely most favourite Spoons song ... reason, because when I first heard it after buying Vertigo Tango, I knew they were back! This should have been a single here in the States. Thanks Andrew for making such a beautiful video - and Gord for sharing your farm for the shoot.

That guitar at 2:05-2:15 sure sounds ALOT like the ‘Strum’ ringtone on iPhones. I wonder if someone at Apple was thinking of this song when they made that ringtone.
