Love theme
Springfield Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Is in your eyes
The look your heart
Can't disguise
The look of love
Is saying so much more than just words could every say
And what my heart has heard, well it takes my breath away
I can hardly wait to hold you, feel my arms around you
How long I have waited, waited just to love you
Now that I have found you
You've got the look of love
It's on your face
A look that time can't erase
Be mine, tonight
Let this be just the start of so many nights like this
Let's take a lovers' vow and seal it with a kiss
I can hardly wait to hold you, feel my arms around you
How long I have waited, waited just to love you
Now that I have found you
Don't ever go
I can hardly wait to hold you, feel my arms around you
How long I have waited, waited just to love you
Now that I have found you
Don't ever go, don't ever go
I love you so

I've been told this version was recorded in New York very
quickly to be sent ASAP to Hollywood for the Alpert stuff
to be added at the end.
Supposedly, it was done in a record company office with
Bachrach playing a common spinet rehearsal piano and
the sax solo done in a bathroom down the hall (for echo)
and the reedman on headphones.
It was a very small recording studio usually for demos
and such....
I don't know if it's true, but I guess there was a pressing
need to have it yesterday.....
I think, at any rate, this is Dusty's finest performance of
any kind ever.
A nice story, and I hope it's true.

Of the many versions this stands head and shoulders above them all. The voice, the arrangement, the musicianship - it's a musical singularity

@Waldo Landorf Interesting, I never knew this despite my audiophile background. Thanks for the info

@tjj300 I believe the difference is what I perceive as the deliberately overly seductive way in which Dusty sang the song because the movie was a spoof spy movie so there is an element of tongue-in-cheek in her delivery here which seems to be missing from her Dusty Only recording. Audio fidelity aside (my father and my uncle gave me a sound appreciation of hi-fi quality), my vote also goes to Dusty Only by a only hair ;)

I still prefer the "Just Dusty" recording. there is a difference between the two.

@tjj300 Sory. The Casino Royale album is considered the top recording of it's type of all time. The album became famous among audio purists for the excellence of its recording.[46][47] It then became a standard "audiophile test" record for decades to come, especially the vocal performance by Dusty Springfield on "The Look of Love
