The Mirror
Sprung Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴

Welcome back to the hall of mirrors
I've put some arrows in your quiver
We're going out to hunt the fox
And the dragon

But to do this properly
You have to be able to think like a dragon
And you have to find a way
To conjure the fire
And breathe it out in a way
That does not destroy
Everything that you love

Look over yonder
Is that Dorothy I see?
Or Jimmy Stewart looking back at me?
It's a curious mirror
The images flicker
All around me

It's as if every spirit that has ever existed
Is funneling thru me
It's exhausting to be honest
So I'll just lay down and take a little nap
Perchance to dream
Perchance to dream
To dream I am dreaming this very thing

A moment in time
I created myself to inhabit
A moment in time
For me to rhyme my rhyme and echo my echoes
My moment I share with you

I open a space, then two
And I continue
For all time
And every infinite fracture and fissure
Between every second
Filling it with light
Finding every crack and fissure
And filling it with light

Every neuron shining
Every hell restored to paradise

The lyrics of "The Mirror" by Sprung evoke a sense of reflection and introspection, taking us on a journey through a hall of mirrors that symbolize self-discovery and exploration. The imagery of putting arrows in the quiver and going out to hunt the fox and dragon suggests a quest for inner strength and courage to confront obstacles and challenges. The mention of thinking like a dragon and conjuring fire without destroying everything you love speaks to the delicate balance between power and responsibility in navigating life's complexities.

The mirror becomes a central motif in the song, reflecting not only our own image but also the diverse array of spirits and personalities that have existed throughout time. This mirrors the idea that we are connected to a greater collective consciousness, with each individual carrying a piece of history and experience within them. This imagery of neurons shining and hell being restored to paradise hints at the potential for growth and transformation, even in the most challenging of circumstances. Ultimately, "The Mirror" by Sprung invites us to embrace our inner complexities and strive for inner harmony, finding equilibrium amidst the fractured moments of our lives.

I felt Brandi when she was venting to Adina and said "How come every man I ever cared about dogs me out?" I felt that one 😩💔 just the emotion and crack in her voice was relatable at least to me

Jo LC

That scene and that line were very relatable, because I felt that in my own chest when she said that 🙌🏽

@Jo LC Girl you and I both. Heartbreak and the PTSD feeling of being played from past relationships even friendships is really no joke 😩

Amy Adams

I never noticed before, and this was probably because I was a kid when I saw this. But I notice that the dark skin couple are the more evil ones while the light shade ones. For those who dont know what I am talking about, in movies (especially long ago to today) light skin characters, especially female characters, are always considered the most desirable, kind and sweet ones. While the darker shades are bad and slutty and are just normally portrayed in a bad light. Especially with Tisha Campbell's characters, in some movies and series (especially Martin. She was REALLY light in that show. I don't know if it was bad makeup or lightning, but in some episodes, she could be passing), she always plays the love interest or the good person.

Travion Johnson

True but in this movie the light bright director who also starred addressed stereotypes against light skin people and regardless of Clyde Adina skin color the point was about how friends can hate on you
