In Dutch speaking countries he is best known for his 1991 hit record ‘Papa’ - about a father/son relation. Since then he has made several albums and has also become quite popular amongst the Afrikaner population of South-Africa where he recorded several songs with crossovers between his European style and the tribal sounds of Southern Africa.
In 2004 he published as a poet. He is still performing and developing new material.

The song is dedicated to a lost child and it begins by the mother questioning where she can sleep at night and how she can stop thinking about everything that reminds her of her child. She then recollects how her child used to build castles with her imagination and played in her own world. She hears her child's voice in the streets and in the people she knew. She wishes to relive the days when her child was innocent, small, and unaware of the world around her. She wishes to see the light in her child's eyes one more time.
