Growing in slow motion
I can feel you starting
I can feel you slowing
Going down the road
In this out of control locomotive
That is not stopping
For no one
You bottle me
In your pocket and explode
Give me something
And I don't know what it's for
And right when it starts to feel like home
It's time to go
You'll be looking
At a depression in the sand
At the silhouette
Of an unfolded hand
If there's nothing
At the finish of our plan
We can just start over
Right back where we began
If it doesn't
Happen too fast
It's gonna happen real slow
It will just slip out your fingers
And you won't even notice
Which way it went
Which way it goes
Why can't I watch you?
Growing in slow motion
I can feel you starting
I can feel you slowing
Going down the road
In this out of control locomotive
That is not stopping
For no one
You bottle me
In your pocket and explode
Give me something and
I don't know what it's for
And right when it starts
To feel like home
It's gonna slip out your fingers and
You don't even notice
Which way it went
Which way it goes
Stef Chura's song Slow Motion talks about the inability to witness the evolution of someone's growth. The song opens with the phrase "Why can't I watch you?" suggesting that the singer wants to observe the object of the song's growth in 'slow motion.' The second line, "Growing in slow motion" may refer to the singer noticing the growth in the individual but in a slow-paced manner. The line "I can feel you starting, I can feel you slowing" reflects the singer's ability to sense the start and slow stages of the individual's growth.
The song takes a surreal turn when Chura describes our lives as an "out of control locomotive," which is not stopping for anybody. The way one's life is going is uncontrollable, and it's going that way regardless of anyone's opposition. The next verse begins with "You bottle me in your pocket and explode," implying the individual's ability to control the singer by holding them captive until they've had enough, exploding in a poetic sense. The singer is getting "something" from the individual, but they're unsure of what that "something" is used for.
Chura then leaves the listener with an open-ended question regarding where the events of the song may lead. She speaks of a depression in the sand with the silhouette of an open hand, but if there's nothing at the end of the plan, then it'll be a restart of where everything had begun. Chura concludes this verse with a contrasting division of how fast or slow something will happen. It is going to happen slowly, but it will slip out of one's fingers without their consciousness. One won't even notice how it went or which way it goes next.

Growing in slow motion
Progressing steadily but very slowly
I can feel you starting
I sense the beginning of something significant
I can feel you slowing
I feel you decelerating and losing momentum
Going down the road
Embarking on a journey
In this out of control locomotive
Riding on an unstable, unsteady train
That is not stopping
Continuing on relentlessly
For no one
Ignoring anyone who tries to stop it
You bottle me
You keep me restricted and contained
In your pocket and explode
But then suddenly you release me and I can no longer contain myself
Give me something
Handing me a chance or an opportunity
And I don't know what it's for
But I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do with it
And right when it starts to feel like home
Just when it begins to feel comforting and familiar
It's time to go
It's time for me to move on or leave
You'll be looking
You will be searching for something
At a depression in the sand
At an indentation in the ground
At the silhouette
At the outline
Of an unfolded hand
Of a hand no longer clasped
If there's nothing
If the outcome is empty or barren
At the finish of our plan
At the conclusion of our strategy
We can just start over
We can begin again from the start
Right back where we began
Back at the starting point of our endeavor
If it doesn't happen too fast
If the pace is not too hurried
It's gonna happen real slow
It will unfold progressively and unhurriedly
It will just slip out your fingers
It will escape you unnoticed
And you won't even notice
You will not be aware of the fact
Which way it went
In which direction it flowed or escaped
Which way it goes
In which direction it will move next
