Ladies, let's stop nitpicking at everything our guys do! Females will notice the one thing a guy does wrong and completely miss the 9 things he's got right! I think feminism has gone so far that woman will actively seek the next issue to use against simply because they enjoy stopping the men down!

I'm trying to figure out why we are even having to discuss this issue. I am a woman and I definitely prefer to sit with my legs closed because I feel more comfortable that way. Women who think this is about men trying to impress or dominate, just know that:
a) you are projecting your nonsense on to us
b) you are attributing a narrow motivator onto ALL men. That would be highly unlikely

c) it would take a conscious effort to constantly monitor how we sit in order to achieve that. It's far more logical to assume it's a natural stance for us.

I think this would have been more productive if they ended it stating that when politely asked and the train/bus is crowded, then a man should oblige to take-up less space, specially if the one who needs a seat is old or pregnant.
The thing is, fares were most probably calculated with the inaccurate presumption that everyone is skinny and sits with their knees together. Given that basis, maybe it would be polite to pay additional fares for the additional space one occupies.

Turns out it's not only because of the twigs and berries, but because of the male's spine and hip design.
We don't have the same hip position as woman, and our spines won't completely aline with our hips and pelvis.
If we put our legs together, closed, then our back will automatically kind of hunch frontwards, make you look a little scared or nervous.
This position lowers our amount of blood flowing through our pelvis and legs, and is extremely uncomfortable because closing your legs are forced and you have to be cautious to do this. But if we spread out legs, it gives a stance or a structure for our spine to get straight and for our pelvis to not be squished.
This makes us breathe more comfortably, better respiratory, more comfortable, etc.

Males pelvises are narrower than a females. As well as having narrower ischium bones, meaning greater strength is required to maintain their stability, hence why we have to sit with our legs open. Also due to the hip flexors becoming tight as an individuals femur is positioned horizontally.

I might be in the minority here(haven't read a lot of comments)...It's not sexist to me. The men have to have room in that area. Stuff gets to moving around depending on underwear and clothing and they need to be comfortable. I personally would have no problem asking a man to make room...if he does or can..great..if not...I probably won't get offended because that's his right as a person. Now if he doesn't offer his seat to a disabled, pregnant, elderly, or person with lots of bags or even holding a baby ... then I have a problem... HE IS JUST A RUDE PERSON. I would expect respect no matter the gender in the aforementioned scenarios.

I'm also a big guy. It is uncomfortable for me to sit with my legs together, and it has nothing to do with what's between them. Actually, I can't put my knees together. Physically impossible. I just tried it to help with what to say here. My thigh muscles get sore holding my legs in that position. My leg muscles aren't relaxed when I sit like that. I have to put effort into holding my legs together. However, I am more likely to stand. I only sit in public places after I've been standing or walking for a long time and need a break.

Man spreading is nothing more than a mans' pelvic bone is a different shape to a womens'. A womens thighs - weather standing, sitting or walking, are naturally at an acute angle. (Why women runners get more knee injuries than man runners for example).
But the feminists think a mans' sitting angle is some kind of alpha display. They need to take a dam anatomy class - instead of critizising even a mans natural sitting comfortable position.

WHY? They specifically were talking about trains/subways, where seating space is limited. This issue is not such a big deal to me as I'm still young and could stand for an hour and think nothing of it. But for those that need to sit for whatever reason, age not being the Only reason.(or a reason at all) I've seen many pple that need to sit, and can't get a seat and are scared to ask to sit down. I personally agree with the first guy to a point BUT...on a crowded train, everybody is uncomfortable, get over it. If you need that much more space to be comfortable &/or are insulted, don't take mass transit. I guess there are pple that can't relate, but this is an issue in some pples life. Albeit a non issue in my life, I do understand why the show took a few minutes to talk about it.

I won't get out of my comfort because women think I'm taking up hypothetical space. You wanna sit, I'll give you space but if nobody's sitting there I don't have to sit like a plank because it bothers your eye. The first dude was spot on.

I really don't get this argument. I mean it could be how I was raised. I just thought men set like that because it was uncomfortable for them to sit with their legs together. I sit with my legs open when I have on pants, but don't tell my mama. Lol I just feel like society has decided that everything has to be a debate.

The one time I noticed man-spreading was in San Francisco. Looked like the man was being angry about and he was actively taking two seats. Actually, that sort of man-spreading I have an issue with.

You can spread if there is room, if there isn't room and there are people you need to share the space with don't spread your legs, same with the purse you can put it beside you if no one needs that sit next to you.
