Don't Let Go
Steve Bob & Rich Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
It's hard to know
When you're not inside
You let it show
Now you have to hide
A lonely world
A flock of birds
With clipped and tattered wings
Too tough to feel
Hard and calloused minds
Cold eyes of steel
Far away and blind
Don't let go
Don't let go
Don't let go
Don't let go
Peering down from where he's sitting
You can feel his grip
Staring through you
He's not kidding
It's a power trip
Peering down from where he's sitting
You can feel his grip
Held in fear of
His decision
It's a power trip
It's hard to see
When your eyes are closed
No sympathy
Now you've been exposed
The road ahead
With no end in sight
Lost in the storm
You could loose this fight
You could be free
Walk away unchanged
To fall again
That can be arranged
Don't let go
Don't let go
Don't let go
Don't let go
Don't let go
Don't let go
Don't let go
Don't let go
The song "Don't Let Go" by Steve Bob & Rich explores the theme of struggle and resilience in the face of isolation and oppressive control. The first verse sets the tone by describing a situation where it is difficult to decipher what is truly going on due to being outside the situation. However, the person involved cannot hide their true emotions, which they now have to conceal.
The lyrics go on to depict a world filled with lonely and isolated individuals, likening them to birds with their wings clipped and worn. This imagery suggests a lack of freedom and vulnerability. The next lines refer to people who have become hardened and desensitized, their minds protected by walls, and their eyes distant and unresponsive.
The refrain "Don't let go" is repeated throughout the song, reinforcing the idea of holding on to something or someone important. This could be interpreted as a plea to not let go of hope or one's true self in the face of such harsh and cold circumstances.
The second verse introduces the character sitting above, peering down on others. This individual's grip and power evoke a sense of control and manipulation. The lyrics suggest that this person may be using their position of power as a means of asserting dominance and instilling fear in others. It becomes clear that this dynamic is a power trip, holding others in fear of this person's decisions.
The bridge of the song conveys the difficulty of seeing clearly when one's eyes are closed, representing a lack of awareness or maybe deliberately turning a blind eye to the truth. However, this lack of willful ignorance does not provide any sympathy or protection from being exposed. The road ahead appears endless, and the listener is warned of the potential for losing the battle and becoming lost in the storm.
The final lines of the song present a choice - to remain in bondage and repeat the same cycle or to break free and risk falling again. It conveys a sense of rebellion and the possibility of change. The refrain "Don't let go" is repeated once more, emphasizing the importance of perseverance and not giving up.
Overall, the song "Don't Let Go" communicates a message of resilience, urging listeners to hold on to their true selves, not succumb to manipulation, and to continue fighting for their freedom and personal growth despite the challenges they face.

That was great. Two artists that are about 180 degrees apart in their musical roots but came together to become an outstanding duet. Alison Krauss has got to be one of the best pure voices around and Robert Plant is just amazing from Rock to Country and in between.👍👍🇨🇦

My vote for best pure voices: Present -- Alison Krauss; Past -- Karen Carpenter.
Roger Williams
They are alot closer in music than you think and or know. Robert Plant was performing Blue Grass in the 60s. Alot of different styles were influence by blue grass. Not to mention green and brown grass. The music they make together is unmatched today. Very good clean sound. Vocals are perfect.

@Roger WilliamsI agree. Their roots aren’t all that dissimilar, though their musical paths have been in markedly different directions.
