@Sven Poletka Phil has done a lot for poker. He has definitely influenced many people to watch and play poker. He's just an arrogant, toxic player. Many Goats in games are. Look at Michael Jordan. He's a douchebag who insulted and abused fellow players. But he was a goat and good for basketball. They're not going to ban him. What I find hilarious about this is that Phil gave an interview the other day after getting knocked out of another event where everyone in the comments section was admiring how calm he was and were talking about how much he had matured, and then this happens. 😂

@ImMagnetz Maybe they should, Phil is being incredibly rude, trashing other people's play to their faces, swearing his head off and generally, intentionally or otherwise intimidating the other players at the table with his childish rants, probably to his long term advantage. Everyone gets frustrated when they lose a big hand especially if they feel unfairly so, but his level of venting crosses the line in my book. Someone should stand up to him and see how he likes it the other way round. Letting him verbally bully the table is not a 'mature' response it is pandering to behaviour that other players probably wouldn't get away with. If the floor is not doing anything about it then I'd definitely feel justified in getting involved and defending myself and other players, if that tilts him so much the better.

What I can't believe is that no-one else at the table in this situation is taking the opportunity to tilt him even more. As angry as Phil gets during the game he always seems pretty gracious when he busts. Getting irritated is just part of his brand. Seeing him react to play in 2008 was priceless, that's when everyone started 3 betting a ton and getting into minclick preflop wars and he didn't know how to combat it..

@Westhood Qualzini I started watching Poker more often around 1998 but the craze from some years back ain't coming back anytime soon. Many reasons for that such as people nowadays play mostly online now but everywhere you go there's a discussion about possible cheating. It doesn't help plus I like many watch everything online on many different platforms. I doubt me watching a repost from someone will be counted as a unique viewer.

If I was ever called out by Phil I'd relish the moment and keep quipping back to egg him on. See how whipped up I could get him. It's entertaining. People complaining online that WSOP should crack down and punish him for this rant, why let him get away with it. I'll tell you why, the modern players with their mathematics are boring AF to watch play. The old school guys who have table talk and mind games are much more fun to watch.

Even if is really annoying i find it really cool in the stile of the legend himself. He does what he does cause he's natural and all this come to his level of competition and want to succeed. I remember seeing a tournament video from the mid 2000s where a player muttered a swear and got a penalty (10 hand break or something like that). Has that rule not in effect for the WSOP, or has it been removed altogether? I love seeing these videos of players blowing up, but I thought there was a rule against swearing in tournaments?

I had heard about this blowup from lot's of people and he did use a ton of F-Bombs but, I didn't think it was near as bad as I had heard. After he lost he shook hands and was polite to the other players. Unless I missed something it wasn't even top ten.

He is going to be remembered as one of the best tournament players ever who got millions upon millions of people interested in poker with his books. And for the fact that he cross the line from time to time. But the way you think, no , thats not how most will remember him :)

Even as a novice poker player, I understand how tough bad beats are to take. You are expected to be still, but you went from thinking you had money in the bank to a big and unlikely loss. Everything moves fast in poker and you need a second to collect yourself from that emotional roller coaster. I definitely am thinking what Phil is saying sometimes. I kind of like that he talks about the hand even if he's usually complaining how unfair poker can be.
