1. Stone was a female French singer who had a solo yé-yé career in the 60s. Born Annie Gautrat on July 31, 1947, she released ~12 EPs. Several of her songs have appeared on recent French 60s pop compilations like Ultra Chicks and Femmes De Paris. In 1966, she married French rock artist Eric Charden and they went on to form the popular duo Stone et Charden.
2. Stone was a thrash metal band that formed in Kerava, Finland in the mid-1980s. It released four albums during the late 1980s and early 1990s, before disbanding in 1991 to pursue different musical directions. Stone reunited to play a final set of concerts in 2000, and then again in 2008.
Despite their rather short career, Stone's legacy has provided inspiration for many of the countless metal bands who emerged during the popularity explosion of the genre during the 1990s. Perhaps the most notable of these bands is Children of Bodom, whose lead guitarist Alexi Laiho credits former Stone member and current Sinergy and Children of Bodom bandmate Roope Latvala as a major influence on his playing.
Along Roope Latvala, the other musicians that performed in Stone were bassist/vocalist Janne Joutsenniemi (currently in Suburban Tribe), drummer Pekka Kasari (later in Amorphis and Ajattara, currently in Pahuuden prototyyppi) and two other guitarists: Jiri Jalkanen, who was one of the founding members, and Markku Niiranen, who replaced Jalkanen in 1990.

Don't Let Go
Stone Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴
A poor man trying to keep alive
Loving without being loved
My weakness and your tears
And when the sun goes down, I remembered
Please don't cry at me when I'm leaving
When I've tried to be better
You are always there for me
Universe feels like empty place
And when you kiss my lips, I still remembered
Please don't take me far away from you
Don't let me go away
I'm broke so many pieces
Every time you said i love you
My heart is beating so fast
If my hands can't touch you
Like always I do it for you
When I've tried to be better
You are always there for me
Even that i never call you
All though we miss our night
And if I die too fast, can you still breathing?
Please don't take me far away from you
The lyrics of Stone's song "Don't Let Go" paint a poignant picture of a poor man in an old city who is struggling to survive while wrestling with feelings of unrequited love and a sense of inadequacy. The singer expresses a deep emotional vulnerability, acknowledging their own weaknesses and the tears of their loved one. The imagery of the sun setting evokes a sense of impending departure, prompting an appeal from the singer to their lover not to cry when they leave, despite their efforts to improve themselves. There is a palpable sense of guilt for mistreating their partner, yet a profound gratitude for their consistent presence in the singer's life.
The theme of distance and separation permeates the lyrics as the singer pleads with their lover not to let them go, despite feeling broken and fragmented. Each declaration of love from the partner causes the singer's heart to race, underscoring the intensity of their emotions. The physical distance between them is contrasted with the unwavering commitment of the singer, who vows to continue doing everything within their power to show their love and devotion. Despite the challenges they face, the singer acknowledges the unwavering support of their partner and expresses a fear of being taken away from them.
The lyrics convey a sense of longing and desperation as the singer contemplates the possibility of death and questions whether their absence would leave their partner unable to continue breathing. The fear of being separated from their loved one looms large, hinting at a profound fear of loneliness and isolation. The repeated plea not to be taken far away underscores the singer's deep fear of losing the one they love, despite any hardships or misunderstandings that may have arisen between them. Ultimately, the lyrics capture a plea for reconciliation, forgiveness, and an enduring connection that transcends the challenges of life and death.
