Indiana
Straight No Chasers Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And now they are calling to me
In the city its snowing
THe sidewalks blowing
But there's somewhere I'd rather be
Thousands of people all walking by
But Somehow I'm still alone
Again on the highway
I'm ready to find a way home
Indiana, that's where I'm going
This time of year you know how I feel
Indiana, that's where I'm going
Where Christmas will always be real
We'll build up the fire tell a story or two
With good friends we always invite
The old and the young come together as one
And we sing into the night
Indiana, that's where I'm going
This time of year you know how I feel
Indiana, that's where I'm going
Where Christmas will always be real
And I remember those who are gone
Looking down on my home from above
Deep in December its where I belong
Sharing the days with the ones who I love
Indiana Indiana Indiana
Indiana Indiana Indiana
Indiana Indiana Indiana
Where Christmas will always be real
The moonlight shines on a sycamore
And now they are calling to me
The lyrics to Straight No Chaser's "Indiana Christmas" convey the desire to return home for the holidays. The singer finds themselves surrounded by the bustle of a snowy city, yet they still feel alone. They long for the comforts of home, specifically Indiana, where they can spend time with loved ones and celebrate Christmas in a genuine and heartfelt way. The lyrics describe the simple pleasures of a homey Christmas celebration: gathering around the fire, telling stories, and joining together in song. The mention of loved ones who have passed away also adds a touch of nostalgia and sentimentality to the song. The lyrics ultimately convey the message that there's no place like home for the holidays.
Overall, the song captures the warmth and coziness of a traditional Christmas celebration with loved ones. The simple instrumentation and vocal harmonies further reinforce the nostalgic and sentimental tone of the song.

I heard this song on the radio once when I visited Indiana. It was snowing. I was driving on the highway. People had Christmas lights up. The song just fit the mood. Very nice melody and rythm.
