After putting on a series of club nights at Birmingham's Medicine Bar, which consisted of a set by a live "jazz" band with DJs playing Sun Ra and Roy Ayers alongside Madlib and Bugz in the Attic, Chris and Leo put a band together to combine these diverse influences into a single live unit.
3 years of refining and gigging later, and the second album is on the way. Recent highlights include gigs in Edinburgh, London, Oxford and Birmingham playing alongside the likes of Dom Servini, Phil Asher and Dego (4 Hero). The band has also recently been awarded a Musicians Benevolent Fund development award.

Groovin'
Sugar Beats Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Really couldn't get away too soon
I can't imagine anything that's better
The world is ours whenever we're together
There ain't a place I'd like to be instead of
Groovin', down a crowded avenue
There's always lots of things that we can see
We can be anyone we want to be
And all those happy people we could meet just
Groovin', on a Sunday afternoon
Really couldn't get away too soon
Ah-ha-ha
Ah-ha-ha
Ah-ha-ha
We'll keep on spending sunny days this way
We're gonna talk and laugh our time away
I feel it comin' closer day by day
Life would be ecstasy, you and me endlessly
Groovin', on a Sunday afternoon
Really couldn't get away too soon
Ah-ha-ha
Ah-ha-ha
Ah-ha-ha
The song "Groovin'" by Sugar Beats is a happy-go-lucky tune about spending time with someone special on a lazy, carefree afternoon. The lyrics describe the joy of being together, doing whatever they please, and taking in everything around them. The opening lines set the scene: "Groovin', on a Sunday afternoon / Really couldn't get away too soon." Here, the singer is expressing how much they enjoy the present moment and how time seems to fly by when they're having fun.
The next lines, "I can't imagine anything that's better / The world is ours whenever we're together," evoke a sense of contentment and satisfaction in the present moment. The singer is so happy with their current situation that nothing could be better. They also suggest that when they're with their partner, they feel like they can take on the world. The song then goes on to describe the fun they have exploring the city streets and observing the people around them.
