50 Cent Lovin'
Sugarland Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

I'm so tired of bein' all alone
So frustrated waitin' by the phone
When i think of everthing i miss
Wonder why i carry on like this
I can't hide my love for you
But i can surely deal without the shit you put me through

(CHOURS)
you can tell me that ur sorry til ur face turns blue
outta go out with your brother and your best friend too
sit on the pourch and drink some more beers
i dont need our 50 cent lovin' round here
round here (x5) 50 cent lovin' round here

no use tryin' i wont change my mind
you been cheatin honey im not blind
im not half the fool you took me for
no surprise i dont love you anymore
take you love and diamond ring
shove them up your buttercup cause they dont mean a thing

(CHOURS)
you can tell me that ur sorry til ur face turns blue
outta go out with your brother and your best friend too
sit on the pourch and drink some more beers

i dont need our 50 cent lovin' round here
round here (x5) 50 cent lovin' round here (x2)

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Sugarland's song 50 Cent Lovin' describe a sense of loneliness and frustration on behalf of the singer who is tired of waiting by the phone for someone who is constantly putting them through shit. The individual loves the subject, but can surely deal without the constant drama that comes with the person. The chorus has the singer telling the subject that they can apologize all they want and go out with their brother and best friend, but at the end of the day, the singer no longer wants their 50 cent love. The singer mentions that they have been cheated on by the subject and that they are not blind to the issues in the relationship. Therefore, it's no surprise that the singer doesn't love the subject anymore, and they tell them to take their love and diamond ring and shove them up their buttercup, as they don't mean a thing.

The song reflects an emotion in many relationships where one party is worn out and tired of being the only one putting effort into the relationship. The singer easily identifies the subject's toxic behavior and realizes that they don't have to put up with it. The phrase "50 cent lovin'" could refer to the idea that the subject's love is cheap and not worth much, much like 50 cent coins. The song encourages one to walk away from a relationship that is no longer serving them instead of sticking around for a love that seems to lack depth and meaning.

@JNett912 I am a huge fan of Kristen Hall (since seeing her open for the Indigo Girls) and I had heard Jennifer Nettles in her folk period and knew of Kristian Bush's work from his two Capital CD's (and his work on Kristen's Careful what you Wish For) and when Kristen announced on her web site in 98/99 I ordered the CD. There is also another one floating around (two versions) of promo stuff that also have rare stuff (good luck finding them). So I got it off the web years ago.

@JNett912

Hahahaha, i love this.

@JNett912 PART TWO It shows up on Ebay from time to time, but good luck, bids start high and end amount even higher. There is a lady who sells the other aforementioned 2nd disc (both versions) but it is high (one is autorgraphed by Jennifer, Kristen and Kris). I find it amazing how they dropped half the group from this CD to debut (then Kristen Leaving so now a duo).
