Sunbeam Lyrics

The longest time away
Last time the friends we made
Longest time away
Best friend's too cheap to stay
Well of course I'll go with you
Not every day I get to
Well of course I'll stay with you
How often?
Pictures tell so much, remind me often
Voice brings back so much situations
Between the money and your every move, acceptance
Between the money and your every move
Between the money and your every move, acceptance
We both know things never change
Between the money and your every move
We both know static prevails
If we take you away
You'll only stay away
The longest time away, my friend
Pictures tell so much, remind me often
Voice brings back so much situations
Between the money and your every move, acceptance
Between the money and your every move
Between the money and your every move, acceptance
Take a seat at your request
Between the money and your every move
Five years and I'm still there
We both know things never change
Take a seat at your request
We both know static prevails
Five years and I'm still there
We both know things never change
Take a seat at your request

We both know static prevails
Five years and I'm still there

Overall Meaning

In Sunbeam's "Outside World," the singer is addressing an old friend who is returning after a long time away. The singer seems both happy to see their friend again and resentful of their friend's absence. The lyrics suggest that the friend may have left for financial reasons ("best friend's too cheap to stay"), and there are references throughout the song to the tension between money and acceptance in their relationship. The singer admits that they are still in the same place as they were five years ago, and that "we both know things never change" - suggesting a sense of stagnation and disappointment with their lot in life.

The imagery in the lyrics is evocative and powerful. The repeated references to pictures and voices suggest a longing for the past and a desire to hold onto memories. The line "between the money and your every move, acceptance" is particularly striking, as it suggests that the friend's financial struggles have had a profound impact on their sense of self-worth and identity. The final lines of the song - "take a seat at your request / we both know static prevails / five years and I'm still there" - are almost resigned, with the singer acknowledging that their friend's return is unlikely to change anything.

Overall, "Outside World" is a haunting meditation on the passage of time and the way that relationships can be shaped by factors beyond our control. The lyrics are beautifully crafted and densely packed with meaning, making it a rewarding song to analyze and interpret.

Why would you not still listen to it?! Actually most people listening to classic trance on here are older than you - you were only 14 or 15 when it came out so its more unusual that you're so young and listen to stuff this old.

In old days and thru a whole life, people just tend to listen exactly the music they grow up. It changes all the time and one generation to another what it is. I rember when my parents listen old ballads, folk music etc. And i tough that its "music of the old people". But now I realize that there going to be lots of seniors that going to be listen gangsta rap and trance music on eldercare.

This is the song I listened to when times were tough as a teenager. It helped me to pass by and forget about my sorrows in school, with women and at home. Listening to this song somehow gave me strength. It motivated me to start working out and begin building my own company from my bedroom even though I was kicked out of school.
I am still playing it until today and it's giving me the same strength, over and over again.
Thank you Sunbeam!
