Don't look back
Tÿlÿpopmusik Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Sit Still, and close your eyes
What's behind the other door
No more silence, don't kill this thing we got called love
Just searching for the perfect drug

When Love comes calling
Don't look back
When love comes calling
Don't look away

And I'm standing over here
Watching you over there
Smiling, happy, unaware
Oh, life is spinning round
You're going underground, forgetting who we were
Let's try and keep it just one more day

You take your love
And throw it all around
Like it's nothing special
Just a sound
Let me say one more thing

I don't think you realize
That a day is like a year sometime

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of Tÿlÿpopmusik's song, Don't Look Back, convey a sentiment of urgency and insistence regarding love. The opening lines, "Sit still, and close your eyes, what's behind the other door?" set the tone for the song, asking for the listener's undivided attention. The songwriter alludes to the idea that another opportunity is waiting for us but requires our focus and awareness to recognize it. This communication of a critical moment is reinforced with the plea "No more silence, don't kill this thing we got called love. Just searching for the perfect drug."

The chorus of the song undoubtedly echoes the directive to not squander the rare gems of music and love in a world that often augments commercialism for depth. The phrase, "When Love comes calling, Don't look back. When love comes calling, Don't look away," highlights that love often goes unnoticed until it passes us by. We must be intentional not to miss the moments and relationships that we value.

The second verse continues with the theme of perseverance in keeping love alive. The songwriter watches from a distance as his beloved becomes consumed by the day-to-day struggles of life, "Smiling, happy, unaware. Oh, life is spinning round. You're going underground, forgetting who we were. Let's try and keep it just one more day." The lyrics suggest the importance of recognizing life's distractions and focusing on keeping our relationships alive before they slip away.

As a whole, "Don't Look Back" encourages listeners to hold on to the love they have and not be distracted by the cacophony of life's daily struggle.

Fun fact: I got this stuck in my head while tripping on LSD for the first time, though I thought the lyrics to the chorus was, "you'll never control it" instead of "when love comes calling". So this song to me meant I couldn't necessarily control my trip, no use trying to stop it but I couldn't look away from the world because everything was so beautiful. I felt like every moment in my life was a part of that moment. It was amazing experience.

@phoule76

that happened to me on shrooms with L. A. Woman... "mojo rising" on repeat in my head, finally giving me the message that my heart was beating faster than a scared chipmunk's, so I started breathing deeply and tried to come down.

This song puts me in a state of trance that transcends, every time and “different”. Even in times of periodic reflection. Still takes hold.

When I first hear it I was sitting out on the patio at a friend of the family's get together. It was night time and there was a full moon the setting was so perfect I never wanted the song to end lol
