Her first two records At My Table and Cabin Song caught the avid attention of music mavens and industry insiders alike, even though her full-blown creativity had yet to emerge. That’s because when T. Nile didn’t hear anyone else making the kind of music she was hearing in her own head, she hesitated until the audio overflow in her mind’s ear was too strong for even her to withstand.
Now the full unfettered force of T. Nile’s artistic vision is finally made manifest with senses-shattering strength on Tingle & Spark: a album of pretty intense songs which are both pretty and intense. Then again, what else would you expect given that its inspirational origins run the giddy gamut from Siouxie & The Banshees The Knife to Fleetwoord Mac and Lauryn Hill? As for that analog Pink Floyd vibe...
“Working with synthesizers makes me feel a sense of unlimited musical possibility,” she says, comparing the capabilities to “a field of wildflowers versus a vase of flowers.” It’s a sentiment you’ll hear come alive in vibrant, twirling chords all throughout the album. With Matt Rogers from Vancouver-based blues duo The Harpoonist & The Axe Murderer lending technical and creative prowess as Tingle & Spark’s co-producer, T. Nile was able to pursue her “strong vision” for the record while leaving her ego in the dust.
“I believe that art is channeling,” she explains. “You tap into this universal realm of creativity and you become a channel. I don’t overly identify with my creations. I channel them, but it doesn’t feel like it’s all me.”
One listen will convince you that Tingle & Spark is all T. Nile.

Rêverie
T. Nile Lyrics

I fell into your sway easily
Bodies swelling like the living sea
Inhaling you, you were exhaling me
Reverie, come dance with me,
Reverie, come dance with me
yeah-ah-ay
I would not let you give much to me
Still the mark you made is slowly burning me
You left me standing there quietly
Saying “I will not forget this easily”
yeaahh...
Reverie, Come dance with me,
Reverie, come dance with me
Reverie, Come dance with me,
Reverie, come dance with me
ohohoh...
And will you come for me when you're free
Or should I move on to other greenery
Still the mark you made is slowly burning me
you left me standing here in reverie
Reverie, come dance with me
Reverie, come dance with me
ohhh!
Reverie, come dance with me
Reverie, come dance with me
Reverie, come dance with me
Reverie, come dance with me
The lyrics to T. Nile's song "Reverie" describe a romantic encounter that starts off as a captivating and intoxicating experience. The line "You pulled me from a dancing reverie" suggests that the singer was lost in their own thoughts and dreams when they were suddenly drawn into a mesmerizing connection with someone. The following line, "I fell into your sway easily," indicates that the singer quickly succumbed to the allure of this person.
The lyrics also emphasize the physicality and intensity of the connection, as described in the line "Bodies swelling like the living sea, inhaling you, you were exhaling me." This imagery evokes a passionate and immersive experience where their bodies intertwine and become one.
However, as the song progresses, it becomes apparent that this encounter didn't meet the singer's expectations or desires. The line "I would not let you give much to me" suggests that the singer was guarded and unwilling to fully open up to this person. Despite this, the mark or impact that the person left on the singer is still felt, as mentioned in the line "Still the mark you made is slowly burning me."
The song's chorus, with its repeated refrain of "Reverie, come dance with me," seems to express a longing for the same intensity and connection they initially experienced. It implies a desire for the person to return and continue the dance, despite the unresolved feelings and the potential for future pain.
Overall, "Reverie" explores the fleeting nature of romantic encounters and the lingering impact they can have on us, even after they end unexpectedly or fail to meet our expectations.
