1) Twins is a canto-pop duo from Hong Kong created in 2001 by mogul Albert Yeung's Emperor Entertainment Group (EEG). Twins consists of Charlene Choi Cheuk-Yin and Gillian Chung Yan-Tung.
They are one of the hottest groups in Hong Kong, and are wildly popular across China and Asia, and are known throughout the world.
BIO
Charlene Choi was born in Vancouver, Canada on November 22, 1982. Gillian Chung was born in Hong Kong on January 21, 1981.
Twins started their career in the summer of 2001, and are best known for the song "Girls' School, Boy Classmate" (女校男生) from their first EP.
Before signing with Emperor Entertainment Group, Chung studied at Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology in Melbourne, Australia. Chung had also worked as a part-time model during one of her summer vacations in Hong Kong.
Similar to Chung, Choi was also a part-time model who had appeared in several advertisements. She became famous after her participation in the television program Y2K, organised by Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK).
Choi and Chung were introduced to each other by their agents. They subsequently auditioned for and later formed the band today known as Twins.
The Hong Kong musical industry has shown, many pop group bands break-up after they acquire a considerable level of popularity. The Twins are not immune to this and there have been rumors that Twins is also facing the same fate. It has been suggested by EEG that their concerts due for early 2006 may be their last. However these rumours have been around before and have proved unfounded and purely for entertainment purposes in generating gossip for tabloids.
At the 2006 Hong Kong Entertainment Awards ceremony Choi tearfully acknowledged that there have been criticisms of the Twins' singing abilities and that she hoped that they could better improve in the coming year.
Twins' fate in the coming future
Twins overcame rumours of splitting up when they attended the May 2006 MTV Asia Awards in Thailand together. They were nominated for and won the Hong Kong Most Popular Singer Award. Twins garnered many more votes than Andy Lau, who was predicted to take home this award. This is arguably the best award for Twins.
(February 2007) They have also recently celebrated their sixth year together in the Hong Kong music industry and with this the release of a special sixth anniversary new+best selection CD/DVD. Most rumours of a split have ceased and they have reaffirmed to their fans they will celebrate in another six years time.
Twins announced its "temporary" dissolution in July 2008, four months after Gillian was caught up in the Edison Chen photo scandal. Charlene said she was highly optimistic that they will reunite "some day"
2) In 1980, Sven Dohrow and Ronny Schreinzer decided to put a new band together, after they had played in various bands as a guitar-player and a drummer. In the beginning they were inspired by bands like Tubeway Army, Gary Numan, OMD and Depeche Mode.
The name "TWINS" might sound a bit funny for english speaking fans because Sven and Ronny are definitely no twins (you guessed it, Einstein) and the name itself isn't very ingenious. The idea behind the name was to describe the way of working when they put their music together. In fact, there are no other persons involved during the process of making a TWINS record. Sven and Ronny are the composers, arrangers, musicians and producers and they are also responsible for mixing and mastering of the final product.
Their first single "The Desert Place" turned out to be a real dancefloor-smasher in Germany and the remixed long-version of this song entered the US-Billboard-Dance-Charts in 1981. The big European breakthrough came when they entered the Italian charts with their song "Face To Face" and it was one of the best-selling singles in Italy 1983.
After "Face To Face" they hit the Italian charts a few more times with songs like "Not the loving kind" and "Ballet Dancer". Due to the success in many European countries, some of the German radiostations started playing their songs and all of a sudden the TWINS had a chart-hit with "Ballet Dancer". During these days it was very unusual for a German dancefloor-band to have success in their own country. However, they next titles to hit the German charts were "Love System" and "Love in the Dark".
Due to their big success, Sven and Ronny had to put together a live-band because the fans wanted to see them on stage as well. The TWINS had the chance to prove that they were no "one-hit-wonder"
and according to their fans, their live-act was worth the money. They did many tours throughout Europe with their new five piece band, including a drummer who turned every show into an exciting event due to his powerful support for every TWINS song. A bit later the band set-up was changed again. The fact that Ronny had played drums for many years, enabled the TWINS to add more excitement to the bands live-shows by adding a few parts for two drummers.
By the end of 1987 after the TWINS had released their album "Hold on to your dreams" they were offered to do a tour in the Soviet Union which brought them to Moskow and Leningrad. During these 10 concerts the had the opportunity to play in front of a 120.000 people audience.
After the tour was finished Sven and Ronny decided to take a break and to produce some other artists in their own studios. In 1991 the TWINS had their "comeback" when they released a remix album of their greatest hits which was called "The ClassicsRemixed". The success of this CD was overwhelming and they thought that it's about time to put together a new album as well.
It took them nearly two years to finish this next album because they wanted to make the album as good as possible. The album was called "The Impossible Dream" and the song "Tonight" which was also featured on the album, made them hit the charts once again.
To complete their line of greatest hits CD's, they released the "12inch Classics"-CD in '94, which features many long-versions and mixes based on their greatest hits. In recent years the TWINS played a few concerts in Germany with their new live-band. Ronny and Sven are currently working on a new album.
3) Serbian dance-pop gruop
4) Noise musician James Raymond of California
5) Little is known about Twins the demoscene musician, beyond the fact that (s)he/they were in the demogroup Phenomena, and active in the late 1980s/early 1990s. Some songs that should still be easy to find on various demoscene archives include "The Seventh Sea," "Starter," "Brilliance," "Digital Dream," and "Speedometer."
6) A french shoegaze band from Lyon
7) TWINS (the acronym from which the album derives its title, if one’s curious about the order of origin) is the mutant machine-pop project of Atlantan producer, label operator, and all-around aesthete-visionary Matt Weiner. Having spent the better part of a decade reveling in a moody murk that intersects seductive synth-pop with Featureless Ghost and grotesque industrial-dance grooves in his own right as TWINS, Weiner has more than proved his sincerely sinister and auspiciously artful finesse of synth-based music. Operating from his home studio, arrayed with various tools of the trade, Weiner tempers his subtle scourges of sound with an unending sense of bold exploration, processing tracks of pulse-heavy aural catharsis. When performing these songs live, he brings an array of hardware to back up his flooring vocal performances, using his entire being to work the audience into a frenzied trance. When not making music as TWINS, Weiner also runs the CGI Records label and co-runs the DKA label, between the two releasing music from Boy Harsher, Profligate, Alex Falk, High-Functioning Flesh, VALIS, Scott Fraser, Beau Wanzer, Featureless Ghost, Golden Donna, and more. Weiner also performs in the duo Pyramid Club with Chris Daresta, and produces music in the studio with Stefan Ringer as SM42 and with the esteemed CH Rom as Wo.

TWINS Lyrics

Listen to me
So in my whole life
Really want you stand up for me
Listen to me
每天都发生战争 谁是牺牲品
每天都要闯钢筋的森林
见不到血的战争 谈甚么恻忍
Let me show you all of me
Feeling weak Take some vitamin C
Feeling scared You can count on me
To Be Brave You should be like me
I really want you stand up for me
Listen to me
Tell me how you feeling about me
The lyrics of Twins's song 爱无敌 convey a strong message about the complexities of love, trust, and courage in the midst of tumultuous interpersonal dynamics. The opening verses express a deep longing for someone to stand up for the singer and truly listen to them. The imagery of war and sacrifice is used metaphorically to depict the challenges and conflicts that arise in relationships. The lyrics suggest a constant struggle to navigate through these battles and be brave in the face of adversity.
As the song progresses, there is a call for vulnerability and openness in love, with lines like "Let me show you all of me" and "宁愿爱别人爱别人爱得很" which convey a desire to be genuine and open-hearted. The singer acknowledges their own flaws and weaknesses, seeking forgiveness for their past actions and expressing a wish for companionship and understanding. The theme of trust is highlighted as essential for forming deep connections with others, with a realization that true intimacy can only be achieved by speaking truthfully and letting go of fears.
The lyrics also touch upon gender roles and expectations, challenging traditional notions of strength and sacrifice. There is a refusal to conform to societal norms, with a proclamation of being courageous in one's own way and not succumbing to pressure to fit certain molds. The repeated refrain of "我识得分" suggests a sense of self-awareness and autonomy in making choices in love and relationships.
The song concludes with a reflection on the continuous battles and struggles faced in daily life, emphasizing the importance of love, understanding, and honesty in overcoming obstacles. The repeated lines about transforming enemies into lovers and finding true connections through trust and sincerity underscore the message of redemption and growth through personal relationships. In the final plea for someone to listen and share their feelings, the singer reveals a vulnerability and yearning for genuine connection, ultimately striving for a sense of innocence and authenticity in navigating the complexities of human emotions.
