In 1995, songwriter/producer and representative for Atlantic Records Matt Serletic approached the members of Tabitha's Secret concerning a long-term record deal. However, Serletic was more interested in helping Thomas find his voice than he was in the band Tabitha's Secret. Jay Stanley and John Goff were uninterested in a long-term record deal, believing it was better to sign for a one-record deal and evaluate the situation following this record's release. Thomas, however, felt the band should take the offer.
The fact that Stanley and Goff were resistant to sign, alongside pressure from the record company to drop the two guitar players, Thomas, Yale, and Doucette decided it was best to part ways with the other members of the band. Splitting the band landed Thomas, Yale, and Doucette a two-record deal with Atlantic Records, which was later renewed. With their two guitar players gone, Atlantic introduced the trio to Adam Gaynor, a rhythm guitarist and Kyle Cook, a lead guitarist. The five now comprise Matchbox Twenty, a world-renowned band.
When Matchbox Twenty debuted its first album Yourself or Someone Like You, Jay Stanley sued for royalties, claiming he owned the rights to the song 3am which appeared on the newly released record. Stanley stated that he was paid for the original recording sessions of the song when it was performed by Tabitha's Secret (it's released on multiple albums by Tabitha's Secret). This lawsuit lasted five years and was settled in 2000.
Although the band never released any records while they were together, Jay Stanley released three albums after getting the rights to the recordings of Tabitha's Secret. He released a rough demo mix, "Don't Play With Matches" in 1998, to satisfy the hard-core fans and the "Live" record in 2000. Later, Stanley joined with Tony Miceli and engineer George Spatta to re-mix, re-master, and overdub the original recordings and put them into the album "Tabitha's Secret?" which was released in late 2001.

She say when come the rain
I get the feeling there's something more to talk about here
So I see him and earn my keep ???
You know then she moved away
I pray for nothing, I'm saving it all for one time
I said hold me now, be there when shit goes down
I'm no good just believing in someone else
Would you think I were weak if I just break down
Oh now it's coming on again
Hold on, it won't take long
Blue Monday, it's a big Monday ahead
There's a remanence to me ???
Yeah, when it stands where I stand
Yeah, we want nothing more of this and
I hate what I do to myself
I said hold me now, be there when the shit goes down
Don't try to pick my head sometimes I don't make sense
I'm no good just believing in someone else
Would you think I were weak if I just break down
Oh now it's coming on again
Hold on, it won't take long
Blue Monday, it's a big Monday ahead
SOLO
I wanna give it all away because there's something that was nothing
Now she swears that she needed when she didn't know anything at all
I believe her and she wants to say, well
She's more than a nothing, I say she loved ya, well ???
I'm no good just believing in someone else
Would you think I were weak if I just break down
Oh now it's coming on again
Hold on, cause it won't take long
Blue Monday, it's a big Monday ahead
The lyrics of Tabitha's Secret's song "Blue Monday" revolve around a narrator's struggle with inner turmoil and the desire to give up. The first verse introduces the female subject who wants to "give it all away" and she hints at something that needs to be talked about with the singer. However, she moves away before they have a chance to talk. The chorus starts with the singer praying for nothing and saving it for one time, which could mean that they are holding back their emotions. They ask for someone to hold them and be there when things get difficult, but they also admit that sometimes they don't make sense. The second verse talks about the remnants of someone or something and how they hate what they do to themselves. The chorus repeats with a guitar solo in between. The bridge repeats the desire to give everything away, and now the singer supports the female subject who "needed when she didn't know anything at all." The song ends with the singer not being good just believing in someone else and that another "big Monday" is ahead.
The song's lyrics are open to interpretation, but they seem to talk about feeling lost, alone, and the struggle with one's emotions. The female is a symbol of the singer's inner turmoil, and they want to give up but also seek comfort and support. The song's title is a reference to the famous song by New Order. It is unclear if there is a direct connection between the two, but both songs deal with melancholy and despair.
