I'm Out
Take That Lyrics

I'm out

Doing all the things you wanted but baby you say
Can you do it this can you do it that while I'm away
In the top drawer there's a list of things that you need
Watcha gonna say watcha gonna do, baby I'll leave
(she's serious when she says) things that must be done before I come home
(she's serious when she says) no time for playing 'round
(I'm serious such a mess) such a mess I know it must be time now
(serious now's the time) to show you who I am

(I'm out)
Don't wanna see you no more
Don't wanna play your games
(I'm out)
You don't wanna believe me no more
You just gonna cause me pain
(I'm out)
Don't wanna see you no more
Don't wanna play your games
(I'm out)
This is the last time I'll be a player in your games

Said you couldn't think how you need to work like a slave
Baby don't get me too hot just to make me behave
Listen to me girl I whisper sweet stuff in your ear
Baby I'm out baby I'm gone catch you next year
(she's serious when she says) girl I don't know why it is I need you

(so serious when she says) no time to fool around
(I'm serious such a mess) such a mess I know it must be time now
(I'm serious now's the time) to show you who I am

(I'm out)
Don't wanna see you no more
Don't wanna play your games
(I'm out)
You don't wanna believe me no more
You just gonna cause me pain
(I'm out)
Don't wanna see you no more
Don't wanna play your games
(I'm out)
This is the last time I'll be a player in your games

(she's serious when she says) girl I don't know why it is I'm here
(so serious when she says) no time to fool around
(I'm serious such a mess) such a mess I know it must be time now
(serious now's the time) to show you who I am

(I'm out)
Don't wanna see you no more
Don't wanna play your games
(I'm out)
You don't wanna believe me no more

You just gonna cause me pain
(I'm out)

Overall Meaning

The song "I'm Out" by Take That seems to deal with a relationship that has come to an end due to the woman's demands of the man being too high. The opening lines state that the man has been doing everything that the woman has wanted, but she continues to demand more, even when he is not around. In the top drawer apparently lies a list of things that she requires of him, and she is serious about getting them done before she comes back. The man has had enough of the mind games and decides to call it quits stating, "I'm out". The chorus is full of repetition reinforcing the fact that he has had enough and does not want to do the games anymore. The second verse speaks about the woman not being able to fathom that the man does not want to be with her anymore, but he knows that it is time for him to move on and show her who he truly is.

The lyrics to "I'm Out" can be interpreted in different ways, but the main theme seems to be about relationships and how one person can dominate the other through their demands. The chorus repeats "I'm out" indicating that the man has had enough and will not be playing any more games. Relationships can be intense and complicated, and sometimes one person may feel that they need more than the other is willing to give. The song highlights the importance of communication, honesty and equal participation in any relationship. The man does everything he can but realizes that no matter what he does, it is never enough for the woman. Therefore, he needs to walk away and be true to himself.
