It's My Life
Talk Talk [www.hugoteacher.blogspot.com] Lyrics

Another goodbye kiss
Another sideways glance
I thought that love could be real
I thought of taking a chance
I didn't talk to you
And oh I turned away
I can't be love could be through
That we'd throw it away
Cause if you didn't really need me
And if you didn't really want
How come
It's your memory that haunts me
You - are not alone
No matter where - where you go
And if you leave here - leave in the morning light
And in the day - you will see clearly
Then I was walking through
The park the other day
I thought of all of the things
I'd forgotten to say
Will I be taking down
The story of my life
Appalled at all of the words
I'd forgotten to write
Like if you didn't really need me
And if you didn't really want
How come (how come)
Well it's your memory that haunts me
You - are not alone
No matter where - where you go
And if you leave me - leave in the morning light
And in the day - you will see clearly
Cause if you didn't really need me
And if you didn't really want
How come? (how come)
Well it's your memory that haunts me
Instead of sentimental long nights
Let's come together with the lights on

The sun (the sun)
Light on my bed will know where I've gone

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to Talk Talk's "It's My Life" express a sense of individuality and self-determination. The singer realizes his love for another person but also acknowledges the importance of being true to himself. He admits that he sometimes "blinds" himself and is "afraid to lose," but ultimately he knows that he must commit himself fully and make his own choices in order to live an authentic life.

The chorus of the song, with its repeated refrain of "It's my life, don't you forget," further emphasizes this idea of self-assertion. The singer refuses to be swayed by anyone else's expectations or opinions, and he is willing to stand out from the "crowd" in order to stay true to himself.

Overall, "It's My Life" is a powerful anthem of individuality and self-expression, urging listeners to stay true to themselves and never forget that their life is their own.
