Holdin' On
Tane Cain Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Night you walked away
Left me alone to play
A fool's charade
And here I am
Still reaching out for you
Anticipating, awaiting
Holding on, holding on
Trying hard to keep you
Am I wrong being strong
Don't leave me holding on
Feel like I'm
Falling from a fantasy
Cause I am lost
In your reality
You said you knew
You couldn't give enough
For what we had
Was all I needed, love
Holding on, holding on
Trying hard to keep you
Breaking through, touching you
Don't leave me holding on
Holding on, holding on
Trying hard to keep you
Am I wrong being strong
Don't leave me holding on
Holding on
Holding on, holding on
Holding on, holding on
In Tane Cain's song "Holdin' On," the lyrics speak of a painful break-up and the singer's desperation to hold onto their love. The first verse sets up the scene of the night the lover left and the singer being left to play a "fool's charade," which highlights their feelings of betrayal and foolishness. Despite this, the singer is still holding onto hope that their lover will return and they can rekindle their love.
The chorus repeats the phrase "Holding on" to emphasize the singer's determination to not give up on their love. They question whether they are wrong for being strong and refusing to let go, showing their desperation and fear of losing their love forever. The second verse shows the singer feeling lost and falling from a fantasy, showing their disillusionment with their relationship's reality. Nonetheless, the singer states that all they need is love from their partner, indicating that they are willing to work through any issue.
Overall, the lyrics convey the emotions of pain, hope, and desperation that come with a difficult break-up. The singer's steadfastness highlights the resilience required to keep a relationship together, even in difficult times.

Had her record and am glad I can listen to it again.

I loved the three tracks she did in the movie "The Terminator." She should have been much more successful, but fate wouldn't have it. Sadly, this happens all too often to skilled artists in all genres.

Wow. I knew that she was married to Jonathan Cain at one time but I was unaware that she was Doug Mclures daughter. Interesting because I just watched Humunoids from the Deep a few days ago
