Face to Face
Terry Talbot Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Jesus is returning
Like a thief in the night
He told us all we shall not know
The seasons or the times
He just said we must be ready
For there′ll be no place to hide
Make straight the paths of righteousness
And shine your light

Face to face
All of creation shall be
Face to face
With the Light of the world
Face to face
Every nation shall see
Jesus
Face to face

And so we shall see Jesus
And all the ones who've gone before
Such a great cloud of witnesses
Coming with the Lord
The poor and afflicted
The needy and the hurt
The lowly and the humble
Shall inherit all the earth

And for everyone who called in vain
While injustice raised its head
For the ones who cried in hunger
And yet could not be fed
There shall come a new beginning
They shall all be glorified
We′ll see every murdered unborn child
Standing by His side

Face to face
All of creation shall be
Face to face
With the Light of the world
Face to face
Every nation shall see
Jesus
Face to face

Face to face
All of creation shall be
Face to face
With the Light of the world
Face to face
Every nation shall see
Jesus
Face to face

We shall see

Jesus
Face to face

Overall Meaning

The song "Face to Face" by Terry Talbot is a Christian song that talks about the return of Jesus Christ. Talbot begins the song by saying that Jesus will return like a thief in the night and no one will know the exact time of his second coming. He advises people to be ready and make straight the paths of righteousness and to shine their light. In the chorus, Talbot tells us that all of creation shall be face to face with the Light of the world, meaning the second coming of Jesus Christ.

In the following verse, Talbot talks about the great cloud of witnesses that will accompany Jesus, including the poor, afflicted, needy, and humble. He tells us that they shall inherit all the earth, and there shall be a new beginning where those who called in vain or cried in hunger will be glorified. The murdered unborn child will stand by his side, and justice will be served in the end. And finally, Talbot concludes the song by repeating the chorus and saying that we shall see Jesus face to face.

Overall, the song "Face to Face" encourages Christians to be ready for the second coming of Jesus Christ and to live a life of righteousness. It also assures us that in the end, justice will be served, and the poor, afflicted, needy, and humble will inherit all the earth.

Glad to finally find this song on YouTube. We sang it in our youth choir around 1995/96. What a beautiful song of hope that captures that glorious moment, finally with our LORD and Savio(u)r. Our pains and grief will be no more. He will wipe away every tear…Revelation 21:4. Thanks for uploading this song, and thanks @terrytalbotmusic for this timeless gospel piece.
