Sex
The 77's Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Militären bränner ner ditt hus
Sex fot under allt som händer
Gräver maskar bon i dina händer
Igen och igen och igen
Politisk tortyr europa brinner
Igen och igen och igen, ooh ooh
Tusentals mänskor som försvinner
Igen och igen och igen
MEN DÅ LIGGER DU SEX FOT UNDER
Bleka mänskor utan några kläder
Sparkas av stövlar utav läder
När du levde stod du aldrig utanför
Men vem hjälper dig när du dör
The lyrics to "Sex" by The 77's are both cryptic and bleak, and they portray a dystopian world where the powerful oppress the powerless. The first two lines describe a scene of religious and military violence; priests dressed in black are lighting candles while the military burns down houses. The next two lines are especially haunting, indicating that the violence is so extreme that it's all-encompassing, burying the victims six feet under the ground and even using their hands to feed worms.
The chorus of the song is a repetition of the phrase "again and again," which suggests that the violence and oppression are ongoing and cyclical. The lyrics detail political torture, people disappearing in large numbers and despairing and vulnerable individuals being kicked around. The final line is the most dramatic, as the character is alone and without help in their final moments.
The lyrics can be interpreted as a metaphor for the relentless cycles of oppression that plague our world. The song is a strong commentary on the cyclical nature of violence and how it often leaves victims feeling powerless and alone.

Arthur, King of the Britons
John handing out cake to all the kids really warms my cold little heart.

If you're feeling that moment, with John being genuinely happy around the kids, letting them smash cake at his head like a good uncle, then you rather have a warm big heart to start with, King Arthur of the Britons ❤️

That band inspired me to travel from Australia in 1979. Here I
it can't be that serious

This is one of the best documentaries I've ever seen! The band members come across as really decent folk, the kids apparently had a blast (Lydon certainly was), the parents - thankfully - stood aside, the firemen got recognition during their strike - what a wonderful Christmas story!
And yes - the Sex Pistols changed my life when I first heard the album in my 20s, living in California. Still a punk at heart!

this is honestly probably their best performance. Other shows they look bored and sick of it, but here, they are actually having fun, and the musicianship is actually tight and together.

They were probably going off the energy of the kids and a crowd that seemed genuinely happy for them to be there vs just another gig

The funny thing about the Sex Pistols is that live, they sounded exactly like their damn album. Not many bands achieve this feat.
