Finally! A Netflix teen mystery tv series that doesn't lecture the audience, doesn't try to gaslight people and actually focuses on the MYSTERY instead of forgetting the plot for 5 episodes to focus on characters having sex. Good overall actor performances and props, okay plot, bad monster CGI. It is better than most Netflix shows and doesn't play politics. Let's hope that it will be successful and that more shows will follow after its example.

With Christina Ricci's Wednesday, it feels as if the mere motion and the positive emotion behind it is so foreign to Wednesday that doing so feels like an unnatural being trying to mimic humanity. My wife and I are excited to view this new series. From the two trailers the casting seems absolutely perfect! We are old so remember watching the original TV series and loving the two movies because in each case the casting acting and story were fabulous.
Luis Guzman & Catherine Zeta-Jones PERFECT! Jenna Ortega we don't know her acting history but from the two teases seems very promising. So rare to have something special like this to look forward too.
So disappointed with how Amazon ruined the Ring series.

This is encouraging. I was scared they’d make the Addamses less healthy and loving. There’s a tendency to do that in shows, which is fine, but one of the things that set the Addams apart (and one of the ways they’re “weird”) is exactly how loving, caring, supportive, and healthy they are as a family.

But from this, it seems like they’re keeping that. If so, there’s hope for the series

On the one hand, Goth/Dark aesthetics with a lighter comedic tones are right up his alley. Absolutely his style. And that’s what Addams Family is. It’s also true he is can portray good, healthy families (like Charlie’s family in Chocolate Factory, the family in Dumbo), and even the ghosts having adopted Lydia at the end of Beetlejuice.

But on the other hand, and largely influenced by his own family history, he often also depicts less healthy, and more conflicted families. Edward Scissorhands, Lydia’s birth family in Beetlejuice, Willy Wonka’s relationship with his father, the family in Frankenweenie, the family in Dark Shadows, and Vincent’s family in Vincent, are all examples of that. So it being him made me apprehensive that he could take the Addamses in that direction.

I love how Wednesday is named after the day of the week! ^_^ I love that her middle name is Friday! It's because of the nursery rhyme, 'Monday's Child'! "Wednesday's child is full of woe!" The other verse doesn't suit Wednesday, but I like to think it does, in a spooky and creepy kind of way! "Friday's child is loving and giving!" :D <3

Like for 2 minutes I thought this drama is going to be typical teen drama. When she began to pull piranhas into the pool I got a strong feeling that this might be different. As I expected, this show was rly rly good! I am waiting for season 2 now.

I watched season 1. I was completely blown away. As surprising as it sounds, Wednesday reminded me of Monster High on Paramount+. Both have a female werewolf that wants to fit in. Who got into a relationship with a Gorgon that broke up with his controlling ex. The main monster is a Hyde. Both have schools that cater to monster children. Both principals are scary women. And the lead character must escape the shadow the mother casts.

There's only so many ways you can convey Wednesday's monotony, but Jenna Ortega manages to do it in a way that's all her own and I don't find myself comparing her to Christina Ricci when I watch her. She's done such a great job.

@S A It's tough to play those parts, because you need to portray the madness and menace the character is repressing. I think the recent cartoons utterly failed in that respect. It didn't work.

I was a little apprehensive but this looks decent. As long as they keep the healthy internal family dynamics and don't mess it up. The best part of the Addams Family was how much they all loved each other and it was the rest of the world that was the problem. Writers have a tendency to go for character conflict between main characters rather than external so it will be interesting to see how they handle that.

What I was saying is that I hope they don't rely on inter-family conflict because they're lazy and that's a common writers way of moving plot forward and getting things to happen rather than having external things happen, (Like the poor dudes who got piranha-ed, She said that only SHE can Torture her brother, thus implying a strong sibling bond while ALSO implying that they mess with each other which is perfect). And yeah in the movies they're eating arsenic and sword fighting and electrocuting each other so it makes sense that she doesn't really know how to play nicely with others or have a proportional response. The Addams' are functionally immortal, though they never go into detail as to how. We'll see how they handle the tone of it when it comes out.

So YES a major strength of the Addams Family movies is how much the Addams' love each other and then the comedy comes from how insane they are and how their insanity interacts and affects the world around them. Translating that to the show will be very important to not pissing off/ alienating hardcore fans.

But if I remember correctly, while the Ricci films had a lot of jokes about Wednesday murdering and harming people, they never actually showed her inflicting lifelong disabling injuries on other characters, with blood flowing out of their genitals.

Wednesday is a popular fantasy film. This film was released in 2022. I watched it once and I really like it.

In this film, the main character, Wednesday, the daughter of Gomez and Martisha Addams, studies at the Nevermore Academy. She will have to master psychic abilities to stop a killer and uncover the secret of her parents.

During the viewing, I was not distracted, because the viewing was exciting. Nice actors and many details.

All in all, I advise you to watch it. Especially if you've already watched the Addams Family animation
