1: Minneapolis-Based Rock Group
2: Los Angeles-based power-pop band featuring Robbie Rist
Sometimes two people are just born into synergy, their friendship so strong it produces art so powerful it shakes the world. That can certainly be said about the music force of nature that is The Andersons. Myranda taught Sarah Penn to churn butter, and Sarah taught Myranda to murder a hobo. But their hearts taught them both to write a great tune.
In 2003 The Andersons began work on what would define the Minneapolis music scene for the next decade. The Bullards Bags EP was released on 1/18/2005 and sold out of it’s limited printing in less than 24 hours.
Suddenly and unexpectedly The Andersons disbanded and left the spotlight like an animal in the night. Their fans crushed in their disbelief began the beg for a reunion.
However, a reunion was not what they recieved, late in 2005 Myranda Secor played a surprise show at First Avenue in Minneapolis. The result was rap music so crunk’d the crowd felt as though they were living a dream in spoken word.
Myranda Secor’s solo work was more than fans could have dreamed of. But on January 31st 2007, The Andersons officially reentered the musical arena. When pressed Myranda confessed a new album was in the works and would be released later in the year.
---------------------------------------
The Andersons were a Los Angeles-based power-pop band featuring Robbie Rist (Bob Anderson), Derrick Anderson, and Bill Anderson. They were active from 1998-2003, releasing two albums and a variety of contributions to compilations. During their existence, the band were one of the more prominent members of the LA pop underground, and all of the members played in or produced other bands.
Robbie Rist is most famously known for his work as an actor; he played "Cousin Oliver" on "The Brady Bunch" and also was the voice of Michelangelo in the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movies.
He was also in the band in a short lived animated '80's cartoon called Kidd Video.

The Andersons Lyrics

Said, "You'd better not drive when you get on the booze"
The sheriff was on TV an a shakin' his hand
Said, 'We're really crackin' down you better understand'
When you get on to whiskey
(When you get on to whiskey)
When you get on to whiskey
When you get on to whiskey
Let somebody else drive
Started drinkin' on Friday and by Saturday night
They had be blowin' through a tube charged with DUI
Cuffed and booked and thrown in a cell
I was tryin' to sober up and tell him myself
When you get on to whiskey
(When you get on to whiskey)
When you get on to whiskey
(When you get on to whiskey)
When you get on to whiskey
Just let somebody else drive
Forty eight hours is a long is a long time to kill
In a room full of drunks surrounded with steel
Hell's all the serve in a Metro Bar
So don't be drinkin' when your drivin' your car
When you get on to whiskey
(When you get on to whiskey)
When you get on to whiskey
(When you get on to whiskey)
When you get on to whiskey
Let somebody else drive
When you get on to whiskey
(When you get on to whiskey)
When you get on to whiskey
(When you get on to whiskey)
When you get on to whiskey
Let somebody else drive
When you get on to whiskey
(When you get on to whiskey)
When you get on to whiskey
(When you get on to whiskey)
The Andersons's song "Drive" is a cautionary tale about the perils of drinking and driving. The singer hears a warning about driving while drunk on the radio and the news, and the sheriff is seen on TV emphasizing the importance of cracking down on this issue. These warnings are followed by a story about a drinker who starts on Friday and by Saturday night ends up charged with a DUI, throwing them in jail for 48 hours with other inebriated people. The chorus repeats the same message throughout the song: if you drink whiskey, then let someone else drive.
The lyrics serve as a haunting reminder of the deadly consequences of drinking and driving. It is a message that resonates strongly, especially for those who have lost loved ones or have been involved in a drunk driving accident. Lyrics such as "Cuffed and booked and thrown in a cell, I was trying to sober up and tell him myself" show the desperation felt by someone who realizes that their actions are accountable and affect more than just themselves.
This song is a reminder of the dangers of drunk driving and the unnecessary harm that it can cause. It is important to heed the warnings and to take action to prevent drunk driving from putting yourself and others in danger.
