Great video, Melinda, you so perfectly explained why vinyl fanatics like me love vinyl!👍👍👍👍👍 The only thing I can disagree with you on is what artists are worthy of attention. Due to personal tastes, there really isn't a right or wrong answer to that one.

It all begins with a love of music, and then it really depends on your personality. I've pursued excellence and quality in everything I've done in my life. It was natural for me to become a vinyl enthusiast for the highest quality sound more than anything else. I like to hear music in all its glory and how the artists intended for it to be heard. I want the music I hear to be fully revealed.

You don't have to own the best pressings and own a ton of records to be happy with music. You can listen to vinyl records at any price point you can afford and still very much enjoy the music. As you said, setting limits for yourself is important. It is better to focus on quality, not quantity in what you love about vinyl records the most.

I declare myself to be an audiophile. It is a truly sweeping kind of person to be. I love just about every genre of music you can think of, classical to heavy metal. Music nourishes and soothes the soul; it has such deep emotional appeal. It is the greatest form of human expression and art. Vinyl is the complete musical experience, everything from the best sound to the album art work and a celebration of the artist's music with things like special packaging, special releases, picture discs, colored vinyl, posters, lyrics, and liner notes. Other than actually making music or attending a well staged concert, there is no better musical experience than listening to quality vinyl records.

I have one question for you. Why did you grimace or look embarrassed about why you own more than one copy of an album? There is no shame in that. For favorite artists and albums, that's just so natural for me. Owning multiple copies of the same album is a voyage of discovery on what pressings sound the best to me and a celebration of the different forms of the album.

Take care and be safe!👍💖🎸😎

Wow i love your videos, you got a lot of great stuff, i got a question for you, :what’s the most you have payed for an original record? What do you now about a band named MU from the early 70’s , i got a rare copy of their debut album but the only thing i have os from discogs sales, take care

@Aaron Jayden definitely, been using Flixzone} for since december myself =)

Pro tip: watch series at Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using them for watching all kinds of movies these days.

I so love your replies, the most I know according to Discogs is that a copy sold for 450, that 359 people have it on their wish list, and that the 1971 release there are non for sale, but I don’t know much about the band itself, it was a great buy for .50 cents, 😃 keep up that enthusiasm

I'm not familiar with MU. I wish I knew something to tell you about them. The most I have paid for an original album is $175. I know that is a crazy amount of money but it was for an album by my favorite band Van Halen. Their later albums are incredibly pricey. Best wishes on finding something out about MU. It would be really cool if it is something very rare and valuable. 😄

Hey Melinda. Cool vid! I grew up with cassettes and CDs. I actually find myself buying more CDs now...but I'm trying to save money, too! Some of my CDs sound better than vinyl, I'm finding. It all depends on many factors, the vinyl pressing, etc, of course. I was stunned to find the VC a few years ago as well. I think I was just looking for a review of an album I loved and some VC videos popped up. I don't really consider myself a part of the vinyl community anymore because I show plenty of CDs and my music genre taste is off the beaten path and more obscure for most, but I digress...
Just got Ram in a free collection last week. Thrilled to have it. That Tom Petty set is amazing! Parsley, Sage, Rosemary & Thyme is my favorite S&G LP and that's a gorgeous pressing, of course! Baby steps with jazz for me. I'm trying, I'm trying! Enjoy the rest of your week.

@The Omaha Introvert Everyone has their reasons for choosing the format that they choose. I remember the days of budgets. I just bought less and the best stuff. People who like digital music prefer the convenience. If you are a musician, then you understand how software can be used to build a song and edit it. Analogue is about pure sound and all of it. Hearing less than what was originally intended by the artist can really change how you perceive and enjoy the music. A good example would be Pink Floyd The Wall. As I've acquired better sounding vinyl versions, I've heard things I never heard before, and the album comes to life. There's a lot to be said for the best sound, but I have a large collection of CD's from the days when CD's ruled and I sometimes buy CD's to match favorite vinyl albums I have. For instance I recently bought an out of print copy of Larkin Poe's Kin album in both original first press vinyl and in original first issue CD. I've played the vinyl record, but haven't opened the CD, still in its shrink. By the way, I've paid less than a dollar for some really nice vinyl albums. If you like CD's, then good for you. In the end, it's what you like and can afford that matters. We're also living in times when saving money is important. When I can't afford records, I just listen to the many vinyl albums and CD's I have; it's fun to start with one and listen to them all. In my case, that takes a long time. Take care and be safe.👍🎸😎

CD's are definitely the better bargain. There are alot of music that's available on CD but not on vinyl. I'll be listening to CD's alot more now. Take care.

audiophile man I’m not an audiophile. It’s all about the music for me. However the music reaches my ears, whether it be CD, vinyl, radio, Spotify, etc. is all that matters to me. Sure, a MOFI or similar quality pressing is the ultimate, but I’m on a budget...have a good day.

I understand that we're entering difficult economic times. There's budget vinyl out there. I must disagree with you on digital sounding better than vinyl, unless the vinyl wasn't manufactured properly or the source material is digital or just garbage. There is so much loss with digital and the full sound spectrum isn't there. What kind of CD's are you listening to? You'd be better off going with something like High Res. Want to completely blow your mind on how good vinyl can sound? Try listening to a Direct to Disc (D2D) recording. You can find these at Acoustic Sound's website. Some are really pretty affordable, but they are limited to special artists, because the recording process is more difficult. The sound is positively stunning! They even beat first presses from the original source tapes!!👍🎸😎
