Feed Me To The Forest
The Blood Brothers Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

These hot machine years burning time across your face
See the smoke stacks rising up like fuck you towers?
My girlfriend sang like a hummingbird today
until that cough stole her voice and fed it to the furnance.

Shrew laugh, trench throat..
There's a party on the 16th floor.
this apartments paper thin walls....
you know your neighbors sobs by heart.
Tight coil, cold grin...
Highways wrapped around my body like a snake.
Got a view of a cement lawn, amputated horizons.
Thanks for the survival rags.
thanks for the soiled skies.
thanks for the fucked up future.
We can learn to love misery.
Was it just last night
that I woke up to a snarling baby?
Did I hear it right?
He begged his mother, Feed me to the forest!

The factory is singing us to sleepless beds tonight.
Lungs like twin garbage sacks sucking charcoal breath tonight.
Sick squeal, dull moan...
Looks like your neighbors found another victim.
Screams Help but no one comes.
honey won't you turn the TV on?
Brown summer, stench wind...
the globe spinning one a rusty hinge.

Get in your car go to your job
like a train that's being robbed.

Overall Meaning

The Blood Brothers' song "Feed Me To The Forest" includes some thought-provoking lyrics which talk about the consequences of industrialization and modernization on our lives. The phrase "hot machine years" can be interpreted as a comment on the rapid pace of technological advancement that is causing stress and anxiety in our daily lives. The smoke stacks that rise like "fuck you towers" add to this idea, suggesting a sense of hopelessness and frustration that people feel towards the cost of our modern way of life.

The song also touches on themes of isolation and alienation, with the singer feeling trapped in thin-walled apartments and surrounded by the sounds of other people's suffering. The use of animal imagery, such as the "snarling baby," and the plea to "feed me to the forest" further reinforce the idea of feeling like an outsider in a world dominated by machines.

The blood brothers were my 14-19 years old. One of the weird bands that DOES NOT translate into new fans...we were here for this shit as teens. Unique. Will eventually be seen as a genius band one day, I guarantee it.

@aaronmarko

I was actually like , 25 when i found out about The Blood Brothers.

@allyv1335

No doubt. I remember when they came back together for a couple live performances a few years back. People loved it but kinda didn't know what to think. They are just so intense and creative.

I miss rock like this

@pphtm

Rock? This is the acid you pour on rocks to dissolve them, and turn them into beautiful crystals. Rock should just be crystals anyway.
