Friend
The Borns Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Yesterday we foiled your plan
The self destruct button in hand
It was too soon to say goodbye to you
When you’re lost you need a friend
You were always drawn to the deep end
When you’re lost you need a friend
It’s all about bucking the trend
Ancient history knows best
You’ll find the answers in it’s text
Drunken kisses won’t alleviate the misses
When you’re lost you need a friend
You were my pillar back then
When you’re lost you need a friend
It’s all about bucking the trend

When you’re lost you need a friend

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to The Borns's song "FRIEND" depict a sense of camaraderie and support in times of trouble and uncertainty. The singer reflects on a previous moment where they thwarted someone's destructive plan, holding the power to release the self-destruct mechanism. The line "It was too soon to say goodbye to you" perhaps conveys a sense of regret at having to intervene in the situation. The themes of friendship and loyalty resonate strongly throughout the verses, with the repeated assertion that "When you're lost you need a friend."

The mention of being drawn to the deep end suggests a tendency towards risky or tumultuous situations, and the need for a steadfast companion to provide guidance. The idea of "bucking the trend" reinforces the notion of going against the norm or the expected path, finding solace and strength in the presence of a dependable friend. This may signify a desire to break away from destructive patterns or societal norms that do not serve one's best interests.

The reference to ancient history as a source of wisdom and guidance adds a layer of depth to the lyrics, suggesting that the answers to our struggles may lie in the lessons of the past. The juxtaposition of "drunken kisses" and "misses" implies that temporary distractions or fleeting pleasures do not erase the underlying problems or feelings of disorientation. The reassurance that "When you're lost you need a friend" underscores the importance of human connection and support in navigating the complexities of life.

In conclusion, the lyrics of "FRIEND" by The Borns encapsulate the universal need for companionship and understanding in times of turmoil. The idea of finding solace in a friend, someone who acts as a pillar of strength and stability, resonates throughout the song. The themes of forging one's own path, seeking guidance from both past wisdom and present relationships, and staying true to oneself despite societal pressures are all encapsulated in these poignant and evocative lyrics.

“We are taking them home because they are our children.”
That Part makes me so emotional. Every child deserves parents who think like that.

@annaheart7731

Every child deserves their own parents, and not the child business. Also, somebody conceive too young, drunk, high etc and they feel free, since "somebody will adopt" their defective progeniture.
As to exotic children bought from Africa and Asia, if you you're so big hearted, than "adopt" a family. Help them to be able to take care of their children.
