mountain
The Bruces Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

Rollin' and a-tumblin'
Take me to the mountain
Fly closer to the sun
Wailin' and a-rumblin'
I'm movin' not stumblin'
Come, come with me
On my candy mountain
Candy mountain run

Dropping lots of little ones from up high
Gumdrops, lemon drops rainin' from the sky
Come on riding close to the sun
Come on riding with me on my candy mountain run

Rollin' and a-tumblin'
Take me to the mountain
Fly closer to the sun
Wailin' and a-rumblin'
I'm movin' not stumblin'
Come, come with me
On my candy mountain
Candy mountain run

Movin' to the high ground, wish you could come
Maybe they'll let me drop the big one
All the little children hands up high
Waitin' for the sugar plums fallin' from the sky

Movin' to the high ground, to the sugar mine
Movin' to the secret so clandestine
World of fantasy wish you could come
Mama's little baby on a candy mountain run

Rollin' and a-tumblin'
Place me on the mountain
Fly closer to the sun
Wailin' and a-rumblin'
My fantasy crumblin'
Come, come with me
On my candy mountain
Candy mountain run

Come on riding with me close to the sun
Mama keep telling me not to come
Used to be a mouse, now I can roar
Tomorrow I'll give myself a little bit more

Forget about tomorrow live for today
No guarantee, I'll make it anyway
My special candy tastes good now
Everyday I die a little, a little anyhow

Rollin' and a-tumblin'
Take me to the mountain
Fly closer to the sun
Wailin' and a-rumblin'
I'm movin' not stumblin'
Come, come with me

On my candy mountain
Candy mountain run

Overall Meaning

The lyrics of The Bruces's song "Mountain" paint a vivid picture of a journey towards a mythical place called Candy Mountain. The repeated phrases "Rollin' and a-tumblin'" and "Take me to the mountain" suggest a sense of movement and adventure, as the singer longs to escape to this magical paradise. The mention of flying closer to the sun adds a dreamlike quality to the narrative, hinting at a desire for transcendence and freedom.

The imagery of "Gumdrops, lemon drops rainin' from the sky" creates a whimsical and fantastical atmosphere, as if the journey to Candy Mountain is filled with surreal delights and pleasures. The invitation to ride close to the sun and partake in the candy mountain run conveys a sense of exhilaration and joy in the experience, as if the destination is worth all the risks and challenges.

The lyrics take a darker turn as the singer contemplates moving to the high ground and the possibility of dropping the big one. This suggests a sense of power and control over one's destiny, as well as a hint of destruction and chaos lurking beneath the surface of this seemingly idyllic place. The references to sugar plums and secret clandestine worlds add layers of mystery and allure to Candy Mountain, making it a place of both wonder and danger.

As the song progresses, there is a shift towards introspection and existential contemplation. The singer acknowledges the fleeting nature of life and the bittersweet pleasure of indulging in the special candy of Candy Mountain. The juxtaposition of living for today while acknowledging the uncertainty of tomorrow reflects a sense of recklessness and defiance in the face of the inevitable. Ultimately, the journey to Candy Mountain is not just a physical one but also a metaphorical one, a quest for meaning and fulfillment in a world full of contradictions and uncertainties.

Batman Begins was such a beautifully shot movie especially the training scenes...

JL

+rushdi34 Except for the action scenes where Batman beats up bad guys, you can barely tell what's happening in them.

No Name yeah agreed there...Nolan definitely improved that in the later films

+Gargantua Oh I loved it, Batman Begins' theme deals w/ fear and intimidation. And seeing a man dressed as a giant bat whooping ass and taking names at such a fast pace would be very intimidating. So sad we'll never see a 4th Chris Nolan Batman film :( Classic trilogy.

JL

terrorofsesameST Taking down enemies in a fast pace sure, but film those scenes so you could see what's actually happening there.

It's my favourite Batman movie.

Batman begins was perfect.
Dark knight was awesome, but a bit too dark.
Dark knight rises was good, but I felt it was less focused on Bruce Wayne than the previous movies.
Superman vs Batman, was so boring. The actor who played Batman was awful.

Bruce: "I seek....the means to fight Injustice, to turn fear against those who prey on the fearful" Best epic line ever!
