God, you have that right. Though Madonna is critizied for her overt sexuality, she has some beautiful songs on the record, no pun intended. This used to be my playground, Take a Bow, I'll remember, You'll see, Live to tell, Oh Father, Majesty, etc. Of course, she is post-60's. One song that is reminicient of the 60's is TRUE BLUE. I’m in my late 70’s so have been lucky enough to have spanned so many genre’s & changes in music. I’ve tried to like most of them (sorta 😂), but, still completely in love with the music starting in the 50’s. The 60’s were magical ( for several reasons). I was young & present to see the likes of Sinatra, Dean Martin, Perry Como, the Righteous Brothers, the onset of Dolly’s career & of course Elvis, Motown & on & on. Music just moves on. It's always exciting. Shame that you can't take in anything new. I'm not saying that old stuff is bad at all. I listened to The Cascades in the early 60 and all their music was great. I was a singer in a band back then and this song was one of our most requested, and it meant a lot to me. I was born in 1968. So glad I grew up without the internet! My friends & I climbed trees, waded in the creek, caught toads, built outdoor forts, & you could wander the neighborhood without being shot. We also had the 2 story metal slides at school that really let you zip down! Not like my grandson on the plastic slides now. A comedian called them "scoots" cause you stop & go! 😀 Got to ride in the bed of an open pickup & nobody called CPS! So glad my childhood was "back then." Who doesn't remember the family's first microwave, VCR, & the magical cordless telephone? Haha Also loved my great grandfather's 1969 Impala with the V8 engine. You could really have fun on snow in an empty parking lot then! He didnt have a radio in the car, which for a teen in 1985 was unthinkable! I took the boombox that took tons of D size batteries & sat it in the passenger seat. One time leaving my driveway, i was fiddling with it, & scraped a pine tree. With those heavy metal bumpers, it took bark off the tree but the car was still pristine! So funny compared to the styrofoam & plastic crap we have now! Reminds me of the song "I wanna go back, go back, and do it all over, but I can't go back I know." Good memories though.

I don't know that the song itself is special so much as the era the song is from. Much of the music from the 60's And 70's was done with emotion. AND, the artists actually learned to play instruments instead of using synthesizers.. So, many of the songs capture an individuals emotions and that makes a song "special" imo.

Songs that degrade women, proclaim violence against police, and is so vulgar in describing sexual activity is not worthy of praise, but of the most pronounced criticism possible. I do not hide my head in the sand. Music has always influenced behavior, and if it's harmful toward youth and society as a whole, I'm against it. The music today is vile, polluted, and is greatly harmful toward our most impressionable youth. Nothing personal against the artists, but the contents have much to be desired. My grandma passed away more than a year ago due to heart problems. Anytime we would go on vacation she would call it Vacation Music and this is one of the many precious songs that were on there. Brandon Honestly what is the big deal with putting my positive input on here. I wasn't slating anybody, however I know that it comes to a surprise that not a lot of people my age like this style of music and I know a lot of older people who found out that I know most of the 50's and 60's songs, American and British. When I was 5 yrs old my mom was a 20 yr old kid. She had this 45 and I played it over and over again. It’s now 2022, I’m all of sudden tossed back to a time and place that was totally magic for me and outta the blue this song is playing in my head. Every note, rhythm, beat and word. Nothing missed. It’s been forever since I’ve even heard this song. I love it.

Another song just popped on. Hey Hey Paula! Who remembers that one? Oh my goodness the music never dies or fades thank you GOD!

Your mom was 15 when she had you? I'm so sad she couldn't have been married and at least 19 before having you. It is difficult enough to raise a child when with both parents, but with a single girl that age with the care needed, and the money needed to spend, makes it that harder to make sure the child gets the love and surroundings needed to feel secure. I hope it wasn't as difficult for you in growing up as I detailed.

In the early 60's around 1962 I was 7 years old and my Mom listened to this song on the radio. It was one of her favorite songs. About 20 min ago I got through listening to the Spanish version of this song that was recorded soon after this song became a hit. Most of these songs that were recorded in Mexico that's where the Spanish versions came from. Songs that became hits here in America were later recorded and translated in Spanish by Mexican Rockers in Mexico. They also did an awesome job with this particular song but the Cascades are the original artists. It's a great song and over the years I've heard it countless times on oldies stations. It's a very wonderful song and had to listen to it.

Not the wanna-be's of today who can't tell a guitar from a flute and rely on computers to "try" and make up for their lack of talent!
