A Hard Day's Night
The Chipmunks Lyrics

Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴  Line by Line Meaning ↴

It's been a hard day's night, and I been working like a dog
It's been a hard day's night, I should be sleeping like a log
But when I get home to you I find the things that you do
Will make me feel alright

You know I work all day to get you money to buy you things
And it's worth it just to hear you say you're going to give me everything
So why on earth should I moan, 'cause when I get you alone
You know I feel OK

When I'm home everything seems to be right
When I'm home feeling you holding me tight, tight

It's been a hard day's night, and I been working like a dog
It's been a hard day's night, I should be sleeping like a log
But when I get home to you I find the things that you do
Will make me feel alright, ow

So why on earth should I moan, 'cause when I get you alone
You know I feel OK

When I'm home everything seems to be right
When I'm home feeling you holding me tight, tight

It's been a hard day's night, and I been working like a dog
It's been a hard day's night, I should be sleeping like a log
But when I get home to you I find the things that you do
Will make me feel alright

You know I feel alright
You know I feel alright

Overall Meaning

The lyrics to The Chipmunks' version of "A Hard Day's Night" speak about the daily grind of work and how it can be exhausting. However, the singer finds solace in the fact that they have someone waiting for them at home who makes everything feel alright. The song is a testimony to the power of love and companionship and how it can make even the hardest of days easier to bear.

They then go on to say that they should be sleeping like a log, but they can't wait to get home to their loved one. The singer speaks about the effort they put into their work, and they do it all for the sake of their loved one. Even if they have to work hard, it is all worth it to hear their loved one say that they will give them everything. When the singer is alone with their partner, everything seems to be right, and they feel okay.

Did you know that "The Chipmunks Sing The Beatles" got up to number 14 on the American charts in 1964?

My favorite beatles song is hey jude i wished i would've heard a chipmunks version that would've been awesome

@amyrosethehedgehog6155

But according to all the songs that the Chipmunks and Dave are covering are from either 1963 or 1964. This album came out in 1964 when The Beatles became popular in the United States. The songs are from some albums that had either two or three songs, Please Please Me, With The Beatles, and A Hard Day's Night.

Edit: I do wish the Chipmunks and Dave would cover Good Day Sunshine and Hey Jude. But Good Day Sunshine came out in their Revolver album and Hey Jude came out in another separate record after the manager to The Beatles passed away.
