Bassist Scott Waldman was born on Long Island, New York. He picked up the guitar when he was thirteen and now plays bass. After graduating from the University of Michigan with an English degree in April 2003, Scott moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of rocking full-time.
Hailing from West Covina, California, drummer Marc Precilla took his first piano lesson at age seven and after branching off to many other instruments, he discovered a partiality for hitting things as hard as he could, leading him to the drums. He has played in several rock/punk bands in order to craft his penchant for high-energy percussion and melody.
The City Drive has recorded with producer Mike Green (Yellowcard, The Matches, Over It, Rufio) as well as producer Chris Fudurich (Jimmy Eat World, Finch, Nada Surf, Rx Bandits).
In March 2004, The City Drive performed on the opening night of the SXSW (South by Southwest) Festival in Austin, Texas, alongside such bands as The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, NOFX and Alkaline Trio. In June, they joined the Nokia Core Tour.
In December 2004, The City Drive signed a record deal with We The People/Sony Records. They recorded their debut, full-length in the summer of 2005 with Fudurich which features backing vocals by Rachel Haden of the now-defunct band That Dog (she also sang on Jimmy Eat World's "Bleed American" and has worked with Weezer and Beck). The album is set for release in Spring 2006.
In May 2007, Scott Waldman quit the band.
In January 2009 the band has appeared to have broken up. Danny is now solo and any mention of the band is pretty much wiped out. No official word came, it just happened.
Chasing You

I had it all but let it go
Backtrack
I need the facts of why
You're better off out on your own
Waste your time
Better yours than mine
Should I give my heart away?
My unlucky streak is catching up with me
You're the one that got away
One day you'll be back and you will say
"Nobody compares to you"
I count down even though I know now
I'll always be chasing you
Two times I've looked deep inside
And my body wants to go
A soundtrack brings me back in time
A summer Sunday afterglow
Afterglow
Waste your time
Better yours than mine
Should I draw the line?
Should I give my heart away?
Left it incomplete
A break that wasn't clean
I can't watch it fade away
One day you'll be back and you will say
"Nobody compares to you"
I count down even though I know now
I'll always be chasing you
When was I strong?
I can't go on
Each day is longer than the one before
Don't shoot me down
Don't let me drown
This is the sound of someone wanting more
One day you'll be back and you will say
"Nobody compares to you"
I count down even though I know now
I'll always be chasing you
I miss you
Don't you know we'll get through anything in time
(I will bring you through)
The City Drive's song Chasing You is a story of regret and longing for someone the singer had. The first stanza talks about a time in their life where they had it all but let it go, and now they're looking back and realizing they made a mistake. The singer wishes they can backtrack and understand why the person they're singing about is now better off without them. They may have wasted their time and it's better that they moved on, but it's hard for the singer to do the same.
The chorus talks about how the person the singer let go will one day return and admit that nobody compares to them. The singer is aware that they're chasing after someone who may never come back, but they can't help their feelings. They're counting down the days until they return, even though they know it may never happen.
The second stanza talks about how the singer has tried to move on twice, but their body wants to stay stuck in the past, even though it's an afterglow of what once was. They're asking whether or not they should draw the line and give their heart to someone else. The singer is aware that they left things incomplete and regrets how it ended. However, they're hopeful that they can bring the person back, and together, they'll be able to get through anything in time.
