Bassist Scott Waldman was born on Long Island, New York. He picked up the guitar when he was thirteen and now plays bass. After graduating from the University of Michigan with an English degree in April 2003, Scott moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of rocking full-time.
Hailing from West Covina, California, drummer Marc Precilla took his first piano lesson at age seven and after branching off to many other instruments, he discovered a partiality for hitting things as hard as he could, leading him to the drums. He has played in several rock/punk bands in order to craft his penchant for high-energy percussion and melody.
The City Drive has recorded with producer Mike Green (Yellowcard, The Matches, Over It, Rufio) as well as producer Chris Fudurich (Jimmy Eat World, Finch, Nada Surf, Rx Bandits).
In March 2004, The City Drive performed on the opening night of the SXSW (South by Southwest) Festival in Austin, Texas, alongside such bands as The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, NOFX and Alkaline Trio. In June, they joined the Nokia Core Tour.
In December 2004, The City Drive signed a record deal with We The People/Sony Records. They recorded their debut, full-length in the summer of 2005 with Fudurich which features backing vocals by Rachel Haden of the now-defunct band That Dog (she also sang on Jimmy Eat World's "Bleed American" and has worked with Weezer and Beck). The album is set for release in Spring 2006.
In May 2007, Scott Waldman quit the band.
In January 2009 the band has appeared to have broken up. Danny is now solo and any mention of the band is pretty much wiped out. No official word came, it just happened.

Oh, no, so come around
I've run out of plans, same as you?
Oh no, so come around
We can turn the lights, turn the lights down, low, woh
I know what you like, won't you just let go, woh, woh
Baby, don't believe me
I said it, like I meant it, but I overreacted
Baby, don't you need me once more?
Would you rather remain strong as steel?
Oh, no, so come around
I cannot contain the way I feel
Oh, no
We can turn the lights, turn the lights down, low, woh
I know what you like won't you just let go, woh, woh
Yesterday, I promised I was never gonna take you back
Baby, don't believe me
I said it, like I meant it, but I overreacted
Baby, don't you need me
'Cause I won't back down, don't stop now
Look into my eyes
And I won't back down, don't stop now
Let's spend one more nightfalling
I've got time on my hands, do you too? Oh, whoa
Yesterday, I promised I was never gonna take you back
Baby, don't believe me
I said it, like I meant it, but I overreacted
Baby, don't you need me
'Cause I won't back down, don't stop now
Look into my eyes
And I won't back down, don't stop now
Let's spend one more nightfalling
The City Drive's song "Nightfalling" depicts a story of a past love affair, where the singer realizes that they still have feelings for their ex-lover. The song starts with the singer questioning whether their ex-lover has time on their hands, to which the answer is no. The singer then invites their ex-lover to come around, as they have run out of plans. The lyrics then proceed to talk about how they can turn the lights down low, and the singer knows what their ex-lover likes, urging them to let go.
The singer then reassures their ex-lover that they meant what they said when they broke up, but they overreacted and did not actually mean it. They ask if the ex-lover would rather remain strong as steel or if they cannot contain the way they feel. The chorus then repeats, with the singer urging their ex-lover to spend one more night falling with them.
The song ends on a hopeful note, with the singer stating that they won't back down and asking their ex-lover to look into their eyes. The song's meaning is open to interpretation, and it can allude to the idea of trying to reignite a past relationship or trying to make amends with a former lover.
