Bassist Scott Waldman was born on Long Island, New York. He picked up the guitar when he was thirteen and now plays bass. After graduating from the University of Michigan with an English degree in April 2003, Scott moved to Los Angeles to pursue his dream of rocking full-time.
Hailing from West Covina, California, drummer Marc Precilla took his first piano lesson at age seven and after branching off to many other instruments, he discovered a partiality for hitting things as hard as he could, leading him to the drums. He has played in several rock/punk bands in order to craft his penchant for high-energy percussion and melody.
The City Drive has recorded with producer Mike Green (Yellowcard, The Matches, Over It, Rufio) as well as producer Chris Fudurich (Jimmy Eat World, Finch, Nada Surf, Rx Bandits).
In March 2004, The City Drive performed on the opening night of the SXSW (South by Southwest) Festival in Austin, Texas, alongside such bands as The Killers, Franz Ferdinand, NOFX and Alkaline Trio. In June, they joined the Nokia Core Tour.
In December 2004, The City Drive signed a record deal with We The People/Sony Records. They recorded their debut, full-length in the summer of 2005 with Fudurich which features backing vocals by Rachel Haden of the now-defunct band That Dog (she also sang on Jimmy Eat World's "Bleed American" and has worked with Weezer and Beck). The album is set for release in Spring 2006.
In May 2007, Scott Waldman quit the band.
In January 2009 the band has appeared to have broken up. Danny is now solo and any mention of the band is pretty much wiped out. No official word came, it just happened.
Overready
The City Drive Lyrics

So come take advantage of me
I've been wringing my hands
For someone to give me the chance
'Cause I'm sick of the scene and the
Same old routine that I've known
Now I'm taking the
Century, yeah, it's in front of me
And I am over ready
I'm breaking away to another place
And I am overready
I keep kicking through life
'Cause it doesn't come overnight
I won't hit a dead end
Like I have again and again
And I welcome the enemy
Right here in front of me, so
Now I'm taking the
Century, yeah, it's in front of me
And I am over ready
I'm breaking away to another place
And I am overready
This could be it, it could be now
Now is the time to move on
Don't you know, I won't let you down
So come along
Century, yeah, it's in front of me
And I am over ready
I'm breaking away to another place
And I am overready
I have waited so long
Time's been wasted too long
In this song, The City Drive talks about feeling fed up with their current situation and location, and wanting to move on. They offer themselves up to someone else who may not know what they need, but they are willing to take advantage of the opportunity to make a change for themselves. They express their frustration with the repetitiveness of their current routine and their desire to break away to another place. Throughout the song, they emphasize their readiness to move on and that they have been waiting for this opportunity for a long time. The song ends with a hopeful note, suggesting that the time for change is now and that they won't let anyone down if they accompany them on their journey.
The lyrics suggest a strong desire for growth and change, and a willingness to take risks to achieve it. The use of the word "overready" suggests that they have been ready for a long time, and are now beyond just being ready, they're eager to take action. The song could be interpreted as a call to action for listeners who may also be feeling stuck to take a chance on something new.
