Brian's Song
The Code Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
Taken in cold blood, under Texas twilight
The headlines all read, it was "punks vs. the jocks"
As your killer walks free, we're still left with this loss
[Chorus]
We must teach tolerance, and stop this senseless violence
We are at war
But not with our fists
Vengeance will shed in the name of education
So sad we watch daily on the nightly news
Another act of violence, another taken too soon
From the streets, from the hands of man so hateful and unjust
We must destroy this callus mind set and build each other up
[Chorus]
No we need no more!
No more
No more
No more
No more
Need no more, we don't need no more
Need no more, we don't need no more
Need no more, we don't need no more
Need no more, we don't need no more
[Chorus]
The Code's song Brian's Song is a protest against senseless violence and the need to teach tolerance. The first verse describes the death of someone in a cold-blooded murder in the midst of the punks and jocks conflict. The killer walks free, leaving the world filled with the loss of the victim. The lyrics talk about how we must overcome the callous mindset of people promoting such heinous acts and instead build each other up by educating and practicing tolerance.
The chorus of the song calls for an end to this senselessness and a fight against it through education. Violence must be condemned, but this is not a war to be fought with fists alone. Instead, the call is for seeking vengeance through education and enlightenment. The song highlights the need to end violence by replacing it with understanding and kindness.
The song's message resonates even more strongly today when we see such incidents of senseless violence and brutality happening everywhere globally. The Code's Brian's Song is an insightful reminder that violence is not the solution, and healing can only begin when people learn to respect and tolerate each other.
