I’m shocked that Dave didn’t make it a point to mention how his microwave wasn’t treated as a clock, and then a microwave was used as a timer for the very first task of the series.

A timer does not have to be a clock. Just take a stop watch for example.

They clearly said the microwave worked as a timer for when the task was over (5 minutes). They used a stopwatch to determine the exact time each person opened the microwave in order to determine the winner but they would lose if the microwave stopped before they opened it, which in fact happened to one of them. You clearly hear a ding from the microwave at one point even. Plus, it was stated at the beggining of the task the microwave was plugged to a generator that was behind the tree.

The microwave wasn't plugged in... They didn't use it as timer. Alex had stopwatch. The microwave was just the last goal. When they open it, time stops. I don't even know why I'm explaining this it's so obvious.

@Dudeston I honestly can’t tell because some the cheats that Alex reveals are so comical/absurd with out any clear advantage whatsoever. Like with the shopping cart challenge where you have to load a cart, Jon comically walks off with two baguettes poorly hidden like why wouldn’t he put them in the cart he was already at the cart. Walking away with them is harder. I’m still trying to figure this out lol

Am I the only one who's pretty amazed that Sara threw a pea three times in a row and landed it on the carpet every time? That's some pretty impressive accuracy with a not-very-aerodynamic object, landing it on a strip roughly a meter wide (?). I thought that was some very impressive precision, especially with the range she managed.

Cause they are not aerodynamic. Its just ridiculous to think. A wedge is more aerodynamic. A triangle is more aerodynamic. @Barbara Danley You obviously haven't heard the man himself talk about how he views his role on the show. This isn't an act.
He says he doesn't like having to vote people's efforts down. That's what he says. Yet go watch the Norwegian version. That show's Taskmaster or 'Greg' always starts by pointing out what's good about what people did. Always.
This Greg says one thing, then does another. He makes a judgment, hates himself for it, so takes his outrage out on someone else. & he does this in The Most Typically Bully style imaginable. If you bark back at him, he respects you.
Not if you have a point, but if you fight back.
So if that's simply not how one wants to be, if one doesn't want to present themselves on TV that way, then he just relentlessly pounds them to the mat with verbal insults. & for what? It's hardly a job requirement.
Like many people who think that they like being in charge, he actually handles it very poorly & can't be bothered to self-reflect. Everyone is too polite or intimidated to say anything. It's straight abuse is what it is, & the reason I don't watch this version of it anymore.

@K I think mostly everyone figures out to use the wording to get around some/all of the obstacles after a certain number of attempts. My favorite tho is when Catherine figured out you can turn the red carpet over and walk on it and then didn’t use it like at all lmao. All the times they just ask Alex to do it are a lil boring.

I believe Tim Key in the first season was the first to start that trend of trying to work around more and more like in the watermelon task. Then Richard Osman I think since the very first task in season 2 immediately sought a workaround by taking the mat from the top of the hill.

Technically, Al Murray propelled the pea onto the carpet and then moved the carpet. My understanding is, that the distance is measured until it hits the carpet and not after. In hat case, Rob Beckett should have won. Correct me if I'm wrong please xD

I'd say propelling it in something counts as propelling it overall, since it's still moving that distance. And the task never said "first" or "next", so I think he's solid in doing them in an unexpected order.

Kind of a problem with the last task. Sarah was the only one who properly balanced the swedes on her Swede. All the others just had their Swedes hold their arms out and piled them on. No balancing. Otherwise, laughed myself silly with the other tasks. Snowman task was awesome.

LOL people are having the same difficulty I had when first watching Paul Chowdhury. His style is pretty weird and not immediately obvious, and this episode isn't the best showcase of it anyway. Give it a few episodes people, and then see if you like him or not. Thinking he's "not enjoying himself" is like thinking Alex Horne is really an anxious simple-minded colleague of Greg's - it's a persona they've put on, Paul's is just a little harder to get at first.

At 28:27 I was sooo thrown off by Alex’s sudden man bun until my dumb brain pieced together that it was merely his winter cap. Hahaha. Stupid, stupid brain.

EDIT: I just rewatched this episode 1 month after my original viewing/comment. It happened again. But this time I though “Ha. I wonder if anyone else thought Alex got a man bun out of nowhere.” Jesus Christ. Hahahaha.

I like how with some of these tasks, if you just take them at face value, more often than not you'll be okay. Like the steps thing: Paul tried to be clever and failed miserably in every way. Rob just did the obvious thing and took big steps and ended up doing okay. You might not win, but you won't get last or get DQ'd.

Same here, I'm watching in Belgium....from what I gather there must be about 8 seasons, I think, but I've only been able to watch 3 seasons fully, the rest were more like, "rain or no rain", let's just enjoy the environment...

That's clever, but Alex was responsible for setting the definition of "step", and he defined it based on the movement of a foot relative to the ground. That's why Sarah Pascoe's cartwheels still added a number of "steps", and even though Al Murray mostly crawled, some steps were counted. But I do like the way you think.
