After All
The Draytones Lyrics
Jump to: Overall Meaning ↴ Line by Line Meaning ↴
And after all, everything I've got it's you.
All those birds have flown away, my mind is fresh and clear, to know that...
All the time it's you.
I want no one else but you, I want no one it's true, just you.
Girl show just a little how you shake up your shoes.
In The Draytones's song After All, the lyrics revolve around a person's overwhelming love and admiration for their partner. The line "And after all, you're the one who turns me on" portrays that the individual's attraction towards their partner's physicality is so profound that they feel blinded by it. The following line "You're the girl who really makes me blind, the one who keeps me awake at night" further reinforces the idea that their partner is the sole driving force behind their intense emotional and physical response.
The next line, "And after all, everything I've got, it's you," confirms that the individual's love and appreciation exist solely for their partner. They recognize that their partner has become an essential part of their life, as represented by the line "All those birds have flown away, my mind is fresh and clear, to know that...All the time it's you." The person acknowledges that their partner is irreplaceable and no one else can fill the same void, as expressed in the line "I want no one else but you, I want no one, it's true, just you."
The song's overall message is to celebrate the ardent love and appreciation that exists between two individuals. It conveys the idea that love should be cherished and valued, and that one should not lose sight of the significance of their partner's role in their lives.
