In 1998, the duo was approached by director David Fincher to assemble the acclaimed score for the film, Fight Club.
John King teamed with Medeski Martin & Wood to create their 2004 album End of the World Party (Just in Case). King also recently worked on the 2005 Garbage album Bleed Like Me. His production work on 'Bad Boyfriend' made it on the album, but his work on tracks 'Space Can Come Through Anyone' and 'It's All Over But The Crying' were respectfully relegated to B-side status and unreleased.
The Chemical Brothers initially called themselves as "The Dust Brothers", after the noted US production duo of the same name, but their burgeoning popularity and the threat of legal action from the originals led them to change their name in 1995.

THIS IS YOUR LIFE
The Dust Brothers Lyrics

Where inside our hearts
Now imagine your pain as a white ball of healing light
That's right, your pain
The pain itself is a white ball of healing light
I don't think so
This is your life, good to the last drop
This is your life and it's ending one minute at a time
This isn't a seminar, this isn't a weekend retreat
Where you are now you can't even imagine what the bottom will be like
Only after disaster can we be resurrected
It's only after you've lost everything that you're free to do anything
Nothing is static, everything is evolving, everything is falling apart
This is your life, this is your life, this is your life, this is your life
Doesn't get any better than this
This is your life, this is your life, this is your life, this is your life
And it and it's ending one-minute at a time
You are not a beautiful and unique snowflake
You are the same decaying organic matter as everything else
We are all part of the same compost heap
We are the all singing, all dancing, crap of the world
You are not your bank account
You are not the clothes you wear
You are not the contents of your wallet
You are not your bowel cancer
You are not your grande latte
You are not the car you drive
You are not your fucking khaki's
You have to give up, you have to give up
You have to realize that someday you will die
Until you know that, you are useless
I say let me never be complete
I say may I never be content
I say deliver me from Swedish furniture
I say deliver me from clever arts
I say deliver me from clear skin and perfect teeth
I say you have to give up
I say evolve, and let the chips fall where they may
This is your life, this is your life, this is your life, this is your life
Doesn't get any better than this
This is your life, this is your life, this is your life, this is your life
And it and it's ending one-minute at a time
You have to give up, you have to give up
I want you to hit me as hard as you can
I want you to hit me as hard as you can
Welcome to Fight Club
If this is your first night, you have to fight
The Dust Brothers's song "This Is Your Life" is a commentary on the human experience, urging the listener to embrace the present moment and to accept the inevitability of death. The opening lines encourage the listener to enter into their own heartspace, where they can encounter the pervasive truth that pain is an integral part of existence. The lyrics suggest that by imagining pain as a white ball of healing light, one can begin to understand and accept their suffering as a necessary and transformative element of life, rather than something to be feared or avoided.
The following verses challenge the listener to recognize that life is constantly in flux, always evolving and falling apart. The song encourages the listener to embrace this truth, to let go of their attachments to material possessions and superficial markers of status and identity. The song asserts that only by surrendering our illusions of control and embracing the inevitability of death can we truly experience the freedom that comes with living in the present.
The final lines of the song are a nod to the 1999 film "Fight Club," which also explores the themes of masculinity, consumer culture, and the search for meaning in a world that often feels meaningless. The song's mention of Fight Club serves as a reminder that the struggle for self-discovery and self-acceptance is a universal one, and that all of us must ultimately confront our own mortality in order to truly live.
