Don't try to help, you'll only make it worse
Don't tell me it will be okay,
Nothing's gonna be okay,
And anyway, it doesn't matter
I'm going to turn my TV on
'Cause everything looks beautiful on video
I'm gonna have to escape by cathode ray
My eyes don't see the world at all
My ears don't hear the things you say
I wanna turn to light
I know that is where I belong
Electrify the airwaves, I'm on video
And if you need me, switch me on
I'm always right behind the screen
I'm beautiful forever now
I'm living 30 minute dreams
And if you want me, switch me on
I'm living right beyond the screen
The only place I feel at home
I am your 30 minute dream
Oh, you can never touch me
Don't even hope you'll only want too much
I know that you can look away
I know that I can keep in touch
And when you dim the light
You know I won't be gone for long
I will live forever here on video
Electrify the airwaves, I'm on video
You're so cruel to ever look away
And if you need me, switch me on
I'm always right behind the screen
I'm beautiful forever now
I'm living 30 minute dreams
And if you want me, switch me on
I'm living right beyond the screen
The only place I feel at home
I am your 30 minute dream
Somebody will love me here on video
I will live forever here on video
Everything looks beautiful on video
You're so cruel to make me look away
You're so cruel to make me look away
The Epoxies's song "Everything Looks Beautiful On Video" depicts a character who is struggling with reality and chooses to escape into the world of television. The lyrics suggest that the singer feels detached from the world and no longer wants to be touched or helped. The line "I'm going to turn my TV on/ 'Cause everything looks beautiful on video" suggests a preference for the superficiality and artificiality of the television over the tangible, real world. The lyrics "My eyes don't see the world at all/ My ears don't hear the things you say" further emphasize this detachment from reality.
The chorus suggests that the singer seeks validation and comfort in the world of television, and feels more comfortable in a world where everything is scripted and controlled. The lyrics "And if you want me, switch me on/ I'm living right beyond the screen/ The only place I feel at home/ I am your 30 minute dream" suggests a desire to be controlled by the viewer and to live within their imagination. The singer is aware of this detachment, stating "Oh, you can never touch me/ Don't even hope you'll only want too much," but still chooses to live in the world of television.
In essence, the song touches upon the theme of disconnection and a desire to escape into a world that is controlled and predetermined, rather than facing the uncertainty and complexities of real life.

I remember seeing them in deep ellum they were in tour with the apers and groovie ghoulies. I also remember watching the apers preform and seeing this weird looking girl dancing on the floor. Then the epoxies played and she was on stage singing and dancing her butt off. it was pretty cool.
