If someone threatens to "blow your brains out" that's assault in any state in the country and a criminal offense. In some areas it's a felony. Always, but always call the police when that happens. If you think that some of these people aren't crazy enough to actually shoot you, well you're treading on thin ice. I was a police officer for ten years and have seen plenty of dead people. I have no doubt that for at least some of them their last conscious thought was "Wow, I didn't think that was going to happen."

Edit: Important point -- someone threatening to shoot you has just handed you a practically free ticket to kill him if he subsequently makes any move that could be reasonably interpreted as his trying to carry out his threat. That's why witnesses and/or video or audio recordings are so valuable as evidence.

If someone claims that he's a law enforcement officer and will "get away with" blowing your brains out, then he just fucked himself straight up the ass. Either he is a law enforcement officer and will get fired the minute you share the video with the internal affairs investigators of the agency or department he works for; or he's not actually a law enforcement officer and is falsely representing himself to be one and again, you have all the evidence you need to get his ass thrown in jail. False representation of being a law enforcement officer is a felony in most states.

What I don't understand is why these people even bother to carry on a conversation with some of these assholes. If I'm in that situation and I know beyond doubt I'm legal to be there, I'm not going to jaw-jack and argue with some asshole who believes otherwise. I would say my piece once--that I'm legal to be there--and tell them that under no circumstances will I be leaving no matter what they say or how long they say it. If they persist I will tell them that they have two choices: a) they can call the police on me, and I'll have them explain to the assholes that I am, in fact, legal to be there. Or b) they can go fuck themselves. I will not be leaving. From that point on the person will cease to exist in my universe and I will be neither listening nor responding to anything they have to say.

If they seem pushy I will tell them that I'm not in the habit of beating people up for trivial reasons, but if the person physically attacks me or even looks like they intend to I don't care if they're eight or eighty, blind, crippled, or crazy, I'm going to protect myself and what that means is I'm going to beat them like a fucking drum if they so much as approach me in a menacing manner.

Important: it's very much in your best interests to get as much of the confrontation on video as possible. Rich elderly people can be just as rotten and dishonest as anyone but unfortunately if it's your word against theirs without evidence you will probably lose. If you think that police officers won't brown-nose rich people just to stay out of trouble you're wrong.

You're also dead wrong if you assume that just because someone is elderly they're too decent to lie to try to get you in trouble. Young rotten pieces of shit grow up into old rotten pieces of shit and they're everywhere.

Finally, all the above assumes that you are, in fact, legal to be there doing what you're doing. Don't assume. If you can't find out FOR SURE then you shouldn't be there. If you're not 100% certain that what you're doing is legal, just leave

Threatening bodily harm and impersonating an officer of the law? I'd be sueing that guy for everything he has, and fish the same spot.

Jon L

If people don't start suing, they WILL violate someone's rights in future. And what if he were a state trooper? It would be a travesty to allow him back on the street.

Matthew Torres

Lawsuit for threatening bodily harm is harassment. Not much to be had there. It’d probably get dismissed fairly quickly.

Brandon

its a death threat

When you know you're legal, call sheriff or game warden on these people. They are the law breakers.

Kool-Aid Man

I rather let it escalate snd hope they get physical , better chance of being legally allowed to maul them

Game warden would shut Karen down real quick and likely tell her if he has to come back or if her name comes back on dispatch she's going to jail

i am legend

It’s against the law to harass someone when they are fishing or hunting. File against that Karen!

White Tiger

It's not harassment if they on your property,
I own river front property and 50' of the land underneath the river, I can not control who is on the water but if someone steps out of their boat on my property, or is on my property then it is called trespassing and it is a criminal offense,
If you have a pair of wire cutters on you, well, look up that law here in Texas,
Too many kids do not understand the law and they totally ignore it anyway.
In today's world the younger generation has no respect
