Original vocalist Clem Curtis left in 1968 and moved to the U.S. for a solo career on the club circuit, encouraged by the likes of Wilson Pickett and Sam & Dave, playing Las Vegas with The Righteous Brothers. He was replaced by Colin Young.
The group's final hit was the less pop-oriented, more sophisticated Born To Live and Born To Die. They split in 1970, when the rhythm section broke away to form the progressive group Pluto. When Curtis returned to the UK he formed a new version of the group with little success on record, but a lucrative spell on the 1960s nostalgia circuit.
Baby Now That I've Found You

I'll build my world around you, I need you so
Baby, even though you don't need me
You don't need me
Baby, now that I've found you, I can't let you go
I'll build my world around you, I need you so
Baby, even though you don't need me
Baby, baby, since first we met
I knew in this heart of mine (I wanna tell you)
The love we had could not be bad
Play it right and bide my time
Spent a lifetime looking for somebody
To give me love like you
Now you've told me that you wanna leave me
Darling, I just can't let you
Baby, now that I've found you, I can't let you go
I'll build my world around you, I need you so
Baby, even though you don't need me
You don't need me
Baby, now that I've found you, I can't let you go
I'll build my world around you, I need you so
Baby, even though you don't need me
You don't need me
Spent a lifetime looking for somebody
To give me love like you
Now you've told me that you wanna leave me
Darling, I just can't let you
Baby, now that I've found you, I can't let you go
I'll build my world around you, I need you so
Baby, even though you don't need me
You don't need me
Baby, now that I've found you, I can't let you go
I'll build my world around you, I need you so
The Foundations’ “Baby Now That I've Found You" is a love song about finding someone special after a lifetime of searching. The lyrics express a deep emotional bond with the person and a need to keep them close. The singer proclaims, “Baby, now that I’ve found you, I can’t let you go. I’ll build my world around you, I need you so.” Even though the other person may not feel the same way or might want to leave, the singer cannot let go of the love they share.
The song also reflects the idea that true love takes time and patience. The line, “Play it right and bide my time,” suggests that the singer knows that building a lasting relationship takes effort and that they are willing to wait for it. The song's catchy melody and rhythm help to convey the singer's overwhelming love and desire to be with the person they have found.
One interpretation of the song suggests that the lyrics might not only be about romantic love but also about finding a sense of purpose in life. The idea of “build[ing] my world around you” could mean that the singer has found something important to them, something they believe in and want to devote their energy and time to. Finding purpose in life is something that many people search for, and this song could represent the feeling of finally finding it.

His voice cracks and is off pitch in places and is absolutely wonderful. Let that be a lesson to singers who rely on studio gimmickry. Soul is something that comes naturally as is the apparent joy of singing a really cool song.

The inflection in those 'mistakes' sounds so good. Puts a little stress in a stressful lyric

This is more a case of a good song covering up for a poor performance.
Neither the lead singer nor the backup singers did this song justice.

Still a great sound in 2021. The Foundations scored big with this awesome song from1967. Definitely an incredible time for the BEST music!

They didn't have to create a video in order to 'launch' a new song; just cut some 45's, get some DJ's to play them. That's why the 60's were so filled with new music every week, with 40+ #1's every year. Today? Only a handful, written by the same writers, with sampling from other songs. Nothing sounds original anymore.
