However, while the band felt they weren't making any progress on their musical path and had moved on, their English manager took the demo to a small Yorkshire record label, Making Waves, who liked the material and released the demos as the "Keep The Faith" EP in 1985 (Kerrang #113). The press response to the EP was positive and prompted the band to reform in the US. Baird had been playing with the Woodpeckers in NC, while Richards remained in Atlanta with the Hell Hounds, who included both Mauro Magellon (drums) and Rick Price (bass). With Baird essentially joining the Hell Hounds the Satellites were reborn and American record labels started taking notice of the band.
By 1986 only Elektra Records were willing to sign the band, who then reunited with Glixman to record their debut full-length album at Axis Sound Studios in Atlanta. Their album, Georgia Satellites, was their most successful album to date, featuring the track "Keep Your Hands To Yourself". That song went all the way to #2 on the Billboard chart, topped only by Bon Jovi's "Livin' On A Prayer". It went into extremely heavy MTV rotation at the time. Other hits included "Battleship Chains" (#86) and "Can't Stand The Pain".
In 1988, the band recorded a cover of The Swinging Blue Jean's 1964 hit, "Hippy Hippy Shake" to the Tom Cruise movie soundtrack Cocktail. Released as a single the song made it to #45 on the Billboard chart. During the year the band released their second album "Open All Night," which infamously included a cover of the Ringo Starr song "Don't Pass Me By," though the album wouldn't build on the success of the debut. A single, "Open All Night" backed with "Dunk 'N' dine" failed to chart. A third studio album, "In The Land Of Salvation And Sin," was released in 1989, which included re-recordings of "Six Years Gone" and "Crazy" from the 1985 EP. Baird left the band in 1990 for a solo career when the album failed to find any commercial success.

But this time it isn't me
It doesn't take 20/20
To see what I can see
Don't want to hear nothin' bout nothin'
Don't want to hear how you are sincere
Cause your actions speak louder
Than the words you whisper in my ear
Don't tell me nothin's going on
I can feel it down in my bones
You can say that everything's alright
But its me going for that walk alone
I don't want to hear your promises
I know the truth and you're lying
It's all over, all over, over but the crying
Go on and talk all you want baby
Just gonna sit right over here and listen
Just go ahead little girl
You've got my undivided attention
Oh, but I've been listening
To what you tell me with your eyes
Those blue, blue windows
Just can't disguise
Don't tell me nothin's going on
I can feel it down in my bones
You can say that everything's alright
But it's me going for that walk alone
I don't want to hear your promises
I know the truth and you're lying
It's all over, all over but the cryin'
You can laugh about it later
You can tell yourself it served me right
You've painted a picture I can't forget
You've laid it out in black and white
Don't tell me nothins going on
I can feel it down in my bones
You can say that everything's alright
But it's me going for that walk alone
I don't want to hear your cheap promises
I know the truth and you're lying
It's all over, all over
Over but the cryin'
Over but the cryin'
Over but the cryin'
Over but the cryin'
The Georgia Satellites' song "All Over but the Cryin'" is a classic blues rock song that explores a situation where the singer's partner is lying to him, but he can see through her façade. The first line, "There's a fool born every minute babe, but this time it isn't me," suggests that the singer is aware of his partner's lies, but that she is not aware that he knows. He doesn't need perfect vision to see what's happening, as he can sense the deception in his bones.
He doesn't want to hear any insincere words of reassurance because her actions speak louder than words. He knows that she is lying, and he is tired of hearing her false promises. The chorus emphasizes that it's "all over but the crying," meaning that their relationship is effectively finished, and it's just a matter of time before he comes to terms with it. He thinks she's going to laugh it off, but he's going to need some time to process his feelings, and that's when the crying will come.
The song's repeated refrain of "Don't tell me nothin's going on, I can feel it down to my bones" is an excellent example of how music can express emotion more powerfully than words alone. The music and the lyrics perfectly capture the sense of mistrust and frustration that the singer feels, and the listener can feel his pain through the raw, bluesy guitars and the driving beat of the drums.

This is, without a doubt, in my opinion, the best song they ever recorded. The music is outstanding and delivered in a very strong message.

17 years ago I 1st heard this song-it's a bad assed track...immediately it took hold of my heartstrings. I've scarcely heard it without my eyes watering. I do love this song so much.

MOST UNDERATED BAND of that time. Get this whole album ... every song is a gem! Land of salvation and sin. Heartbreaking and knuckle busting themes. Check out their song "I dunno" same album. They had label trouble from the start. All they wanted was more "keep your hands to urself" and the band wanted to grow...as they clearly did. Singer dan Baird made a solo that went nowhere....but it was good. I had some good inside Intel on this...but u never know. They still play gigs but I dont know if it's the same line up. I've just found a record they did recently called "keep on rockin" only heard the title track and it is earthquakeing bad ass. I owned a small record store and then managed a big retail chain....cause the internet put me out of biz, lol! But either store, If I put this disc in I sold copies right there. I feel bad for them, no corporate support, poor A n R....and yet the black crows went crazy. I love them too, but I met them backstage once, and let's just not say anything if theres nothing nice to say. Thanks for this wonderful video...GREAT EDITING and all...keep it up!!!!

Steve Gorman who used to be the drummer for the Black Crowes has a book coming out this week that does not paint a very pretty picture of the Robinson Brothers. He is now the drummer for Trigger Hippy who also has a new album coming out soon. You're right though, this was a great album. I think "Another Chance" might have actually been my favorite song. I loved the Ronnie Lane/Faces feel to the song. Dan is still touring and putting out music with his band Homemade Sin.

This song came out just as my marriage was going down the tubes. She was cheating, and the words fit perfectly to what was going on. Trust me, I listened to it a lot.

Me too man. I wasnt alone after all.

This is definitely one of my All-Time favorites. Very few songs capture the pure "Shut The F*ck Up, You Cheatin' Piece Of Shit" feeling like this one does.
Amazing lyrics & the tone of the music absolutely nails the overall angst someone feels when they're confronting the asshole who's been cheating on them.

I’ve been playing music most of my life. I’m 50. And we played this song in bars for years. People would ask us often after the show, “damn..did y’all write that song?? Cause that’s incredible!” I never took credit for it. But I wish I had written it. Dan’s voice and lyrics, Rick’s angry solo, ending with a wall of Marshalls. Powerful stuff.
This song DID get some radio play. I heard it one time. Once. The record company obviously had no faith in this record. It was probably a couple years ahead of its time. I truly believe it could have found space in the alternative/grunge scene. Not part of it it necessarily, but complimenting it enough to be noticed. Pretty much every song on SAS is a winner.

We’d often get requests for this song if we hadn’t played it yet. Most always on our setlist.

One of the best and most underrated American bands ever.
