I Can't Help It If I'm Still in Love with You
The Holmes Brothers feat. Rosanne Cash Lyrics

I can't help it if I'm still in love with you
Somebody else stood by your side and he looked so satisfied
I can't help it if I'm still in love with you
A picture from the past came slowly stealing
As I brushed your heart and walked so close to you
Then suddenly I got that old time feeling
It's hard to know another's lips will kiss you
And hold you just the way I used to do
Oh heaven only knows how much I miss you
I can't help it if I'm still in love with you
The Holmes Brothers's song "I Can't Help It If I'm Still In Love With You" highlights the feeling of powerlessness experienced by someone who is still deeply in love with their ex-partner. The lyrics convey the pain and helplessness that comes with seeing the person you love with someone else. The opening lines "Today I passed you on the street and my heart fell at your feet" depict how the singer's heart is still tied to their past lover, and how seeing them again brings back the memories and feelings that they thought they had buried.
The lyrics strike a nostalgic chord, transporting the singer back to a time before their lover was with someone else. The line "A picture from the past came slowly stealing" portrays how memories of a blissful past with their lover sneak up on the singer as they brush past them. The song also touches on the difficulty of letting go of someone you love, with the line "Oh heaven only knows how much I miss you."
Overall, the song captures the raw emotion and feeling of helplessness that comes with being in love with someone who's no longer yours. It conveys the pain of seeing an old flame with someone new and the difficulty of moving on from love.

I don't even think she knows how much she is missed and how much country music needs her back.

Amen on that!

Amen!! And, who do we tell to make sure she is inducted in the Country Music Hall of Fame?! I guess I assumed she was because of how amazing she always has been…I was shocked to find out she wasn’t. This is a travesty that needs correcting.

As an Eastern Kentucky boy, there is not enough thumbs up for this video. The fact it was for flood relief made it even better.

When I listen to Patty Loveless sing, I always hear the sound of the mountains of Kentucky in her voice. So authentic, so beautiful! This is real country music to me. Love you Patty!
